I saw a post that said, “Happily married people need to speak louder because the internet is making marriage look like a horror story.” Well, here’s my own little contribution.

Marriage is beautiful, but it has never been perfect.

I don’t think anyone should go into marriage expecting a smooth ride. Marriage is a school where you never graduate. Every day you’re learning, unlearning, adjusting, growing, and becoming better.

Let’s also remember that marriage brings together two adults who have lived completely different lives. Different backgrounds. Different upbringings. Different personalities. Different beliefs. Different ways of communicating and seeing life. So yes, there will be disagreements. There will be misunderstandings. There will be moments when both people don’t see eye to eye.

After all, you disagree with your siblings, your parents, and even your closest friends sometimes. So why do we expect marriage to be exempt from that?

What matters is having two people who are willing to keep choosing each other and keep doing the work.

One thing I’ve come to realise is that the enemy has always been after the institution of marriage. Right from the beginning in Genesis, after God brought Adam and Eve together, the serpent wasted no time bringing deception, confusion and division into their relationship. His assignment was to corrupt what God had made beautiful, and I believe that strategy hasn’t changed.

This is why we have to be intentional. Not every disagreement has to become a war. Not every offence has to become a reason to walk away. Sometimes it’s our pride, our ego, and our need to be right that cause more damage than the issue itself.

I’m speaking to both men and women. Let’s stop looking for perfect marriages because they don’t exist. Instead, let’s learn to protect what we’re building. Let’s extend more grace, communicate better, pray more, love harder, and remember that we’re on the same team.

Maybe then we’ll see more couples grow grey together, grow toothless together, and still look at each other after many years and say, “I’d still choose you.”

Sometimes, I find myself getting jealous of the bond my hubby shares with our son. 🥹❤️ The way our boy loves him so much makes me wonder if it started from when he was still in my womb, when Daddy would sing to him, talk to him and feel his little kicks.

Watching their bond grow into this beautiful friendship melts my heart every time. 🥹❤️ Fatherhood is so much more than providing; it’s about being present and creating memories that our children will carry forever.

This kind of bond is so precious, and I’m genuinely grateful our son gets to experience it. ❤️🤎

@brave_southampton this is hands down the best lounge in Southampton atm. We had the best service there. The owner of the lounge is amazing and we got the best treatment ever. The Dj was amazing. The lounge was tidy and what struck me was the perfumes and deodorants in the restroom. This lounge/bar is amazing. Don’t even get me started on the food. I’m definitely visiting again.
