PROJEKT 13 — CHAPTER ONE: COMING HOME

Some stories don’t really end. They just wait for you to come back to them.

When I was in my early 20s, I was fortunate enough to own two Porsche 911s a Guards Red 1968 and a Guards Red 1971. At the time, I don’t think I fully understood what those cars would eventually mean to me.

Life moved on. The cars moved on.

And like a lot of things you let go of when you’re young, I eventually wished I hadn’t.

But the Porsche bug never really left.

In 1999, when the new 996 Carrera arrived, something about that car caught my attention. It was different. A new generation of 911, a new chapter for Porsche, and for whatever reason, it stayed in the back of my mind for all these years.

Fast-forward to today, and there’s finally a 1999 Carrera sitting in my garage.

This one isn’t about recreating the past.

It isn’t a restoration.

It isn’t about turning it into something it was never meant to be.

It’s about taking a car I’ve wanted for more than 25 years and slowly making it mine pulling inspiration from the Porsches and racing history I’ve always loved, while still allowing the car to tell its own story.

And this is where PROJEKT 13 begins.

A huge thank you to @whiterabbitwraps for taking an idea that existed in my head and in a few AI renderings and bringing the first piece of it to life. The craftsmanship on the wrap — especially the aged, weathered character — turned out exactly the way I imagined it.

There’s much more planned for this car, but I don’t want to tell the whole story at once.

Every change with intention.

Every mile a new memory.

And maybe, in a strange way, finding this car wasn’t the beginning of another Porsche story at all.

Maybe it was simply coming home.

Some dreams get louder after dark.

Projekt 13 is about more than a car. It’s about taking an idea that won’t leave you alone and giving it somewhere to live.

Every detail brings a little more of that vision into the real world. The weathered red. The yellow headlights. The number 13. What started as a 1999 911 996.1 is becoming something unmistakably mine.

That’s the beauty of creating something. You don’t need everyone to understand it. You just need it to mean enough to keep going.

Whatever your version of this is—the project, the dream, the thing you keep putting off—give it a chance to become real. There’s something worth chasing in seeing what you imagined finally looking back at you.

PROJEKT 13 — THE SHIRTS ARE HERE. 🏁

What started as an idea around a 1999 Porsche 996.1 Carrera keeps turning into something bigger.

Project 13 was never about building a perfect car. It’s about taking a car I love, borrowing inspiration from Porsche’s GT3 and Cup racing history, and making every detail our own.

Now that story has made its way onto the first Projekt 13 shirts.

The black graphic tee tells the story.
The blue keeps it simple.
Both are officially part of the build.

Well… why not? 😂

The first Projekt 13 shirts are officially ordered.

What started as a 1999 Porsche 996.1 Carrera and a simple idea to build something different has somehow taken on a life of its own.

The weathered Guards Red hood.
The 13.
Yellow headlights.
The windshield banner.
The Cup-car inspired mono-wiper.

And we’re nowhere near finished.

The next chapters are already taking shape.

A roll cage is in the plans. The suspension is getting completely reworked as we continue pushing the car toward that raw 996 Cup/GT3-inspired character.

And then there’s the big one…

We’re going to start hunting for what I consider the holy grail for Projekt 13 — a Mezger engine.

Will we actually find the right one?
I have no idea. 😂

But that’s part of this whole project.

Projekt 13 was never supposed to be about building the easiest car or following a predetermined recipe. It’s about seeing an idea, chasing it, working with talented people, and seeing just how far we’re willing to take a 1999 996.1.

Apparently that also means we’re making shirts now. 😂

So… why not?

This Boxster is just one of the 45 Porsche’s that will appear in the book.

What you see here is the original hand-drawn charcoal sketch stage.

In print, this sketch will be transformed into a finished artwork created through a blend of hand-crafted and digital techniques, preserving the character of the vehicle while staying true to the spirit of the original drawing. 📖🧑🏽‍🎨

BOXTOP // NEW PERSONALITY 🔴

Same Boxster. Completely different attitude.

That’s one of the things I love about the 986 — it doesn’t take much to completely change the personality of the car.

Hardtop.
Soft top.
Tonneau cover.
And now… Speedster humps.

But the humps weren’t the only change.

I also swapped out the wheels for a set of Turbo Twists, and I’m amazed at how much they changed the overall look. The car suddenly feels wider, more aggressive, and even more connected to that classic Porsche era.

That’s what makes BoxTop so much fun. I can change a few pieces and it feels like I’m driving a different version of the same car.

And right now?

Speedster humps + Turbo Twists = my favorite version yet.
