A long weekend in Charleston that did not disappoint…

Our first trip to this beautiful city, and definitely not our last. We loved the layers of history and design around every corner: wrought-iron gates and intricate metalwork, colonial homes, cobblestone streets, beautiful gardens, and architecture with a story to tell. A visit to the International African American Museum added an especially meaningful perspective to that story.
Charleston is a reminder that great design isn’t always new. Sometimes it’s craftsmanship, patina, proportion, preservation, and the stories a place carries with it.

Until next time, Charleston.

Meet Megan 👋

Megan Reilly has been part of WestEdge since day one, helping turn an idea into the design fair it is today.

Before WestEdge, she was on a very different path. Megan planned to become a U.S. diplomat and worked for the State Department in Ireland and France. 🌎 Her love of travel, new places and different cultures never left. It simply found a new home in the world of design.

Next on her travel list? Mexico City 🇲🇽

It’s all about the people. ❤️

Flipping through photos from Vietnam this morning and reminded of all the people who made our trip so memorable. The street scenes, the artisans, the smiles… but most of all, the warmth and incredible hospitality of the Vietnamese people.

I found myself asking a few people if they found it challenging being so gracious to Americans, given our countries’ complicated history. The answer often came back to spirituality and Buddhism… the idea of moving forward, not looking back. One person simply told me, “That’s how we are taught.”
