Avoid overwhelm → things accumulate → more overwhelm.

Protect yourself from rejection → withdraw → more disconnection.

Desire intimacy → fear vulnerability → protect yourself from being seen → more loneliness.

Sometimes the loop is remarkably elegant. 😈

It is one thing to know what matters to you.

It is another to remain connected to it when someone you love wants something different.

Relationship brings another reality into the room. Another way of seeing. Another history, body, desire, fear, boundary, and understanding of what words like love, freedom, honesty, or belonging actually mean.

Then something begins forming between us.

There is I.
There is Other.
And there is We.

Adulthood does not ask us to abandon ourselves in order to belong. Nor does it ask us to protect our individuality so fiercely that relationship becomes impossible.

It invites us to discover how distinct realities might meet, influence one another, and consciously participate in creating something together.

This September, we are gathering in Boulder for **Rite of Passage: What Happens When I Meets We?**

Over 2.5 days, we will enter these questions through ceremony, illuminating frameworks, embodied ritual, intimate community, and enough mystery for something unexpected to emerge.

Not only to understand relationship differently.

To experience what becomes possible when we participate differently.

During a ceremony, a few days before her bday, deep in the nervous system relaxation that’s unique to the intelligence of these plants, Lilit heard a voice she had been carrying for most of her life.

A voice that whispered,
“You can’t do anything right.”

She began to see how this story had shaped so much of her experience. The constant stress and fear of not performing well enough.

Then, she did what I’ve witness her do so elegantly many times before.

Once that voice was brought into awareness, she looked up at me and said:

“I can’t do it wrong.”

Now, for her 61st birthday, I celebrate this extraordinary woman whose curiosity continues to lead her into more parts of herself. A woman willing to meet what is hidden, reclaim what was lost, and rewrite her operating system one story at a time.

I celebrate the sweet young girl who learned to hold her voice.

And I celebrate the gorgeous goddess who now chooses to use it.

To speak her truth.
To love boldly.
To create beauty.
To inspire possibility.
To remind so many of us what it looks like to keep becoming.

I wrote this song for her.

It’s called You Can’t Do It Wrong.

Before Ozempic.
