Gabby, what did you do for your birthday?
Me: I flew a Cessna 172 😅🥰

34 threw a lot of unexpected things at me. Though uncomfortable and difficult to grapple with at first, turns out they were all necessary for my growth.

So for 35, my only wish is for me to max out on all the opportunities that life has to offer.

La vie doux means life’s sweet, and so far 35 is lookin sweet!

When you and your pace partner live in different cities, you both sign up for a race in another city so you can run together again. And of course you color coordinate the fits. Good use of free will, don’t you think?

This was supposed to be posted on Saturday 9/19, but life got in the way.

On 9/19/21, I ran my first 5k race after joining ZFT Run Club and picking up running the month prior. I thought I’d stop at 5ks, but the zquad kept pushing me along!

In 2023, the fibroid I had grew and became so painful, it eventually hindered me from working out and running. On 9/19/23, I had a myomectomy. After my doctor cleared me to get back to my normal activities, including running, I was hesitant. Not because I felt pain post-surgery, but because my mind engaged in a lot of negative self-talk that hindered me from running again for months.

I’m so glad I eventually got back to running after my myomectomy. I’ve completed 7 half marathons and 2 marathons since that surgery. My body carried out what my mind thought was impossible. Our bodies are amazing! But sometimes I wonder what would’ve happened if I gave in to that fear and never ran again? by @omgabbyyy

Y’all hear saxophones getting louder when something’s about to go terribly wrong. I’m from South Florida, so I hear @trickdaddydollars instead. 😩

When I’m out of town while half marathon training season is live and in full effect, I still have to get my runs in. Sometimes I find a nice route; this time around, not so much.

I was in the DC area not too long ago, and I took a Lyft to a park nearby. When my Lyft driver dropped me off, she said, “you running over here by yourself? Good luck!” 🚩 #1.

While I’m stretching, I see a sign that says, “Is this snake dangerous?” Snaaaaaakes?!? 🚩 #2.

At this point, I start running along the trail for all of 3 seconds and the hairs on the back of my neck stick up like alfalfa. 🚩#3.

I ain’t never turn around so fast! I put my GPS on and ran back to the hotel. Cuz in the words of Trick Daddy, “Anybody wanna MF’in die?” Not I. 🥴

You’ve heard of running at a conversational pace, but how about at a singing pace? In efforts to keep easy pace runs feeling easy and fun, I wanted to run and sing at the same time. Thankfully, my pace partner, @shays_lifestyle was also up for the challenge. We chose to debut karunoke with a throwback from the Queen of Bacchanal, @destragarcia

This weekend, @zftrunclub_houston celebrated our 9-year anniversary and it was nothing short of a dream!

I cried many happy tears this weekend, tightly hugged many of my friends who I haven’t seen since I moved away, and basked in the spirit that embodies ZFT. Thankful for another amazing celebration, and looking forward to what this upcoming year and training season brings. by @omgabbyyy

In honor of ZFT Day in Houston yesterday, let’s throw it back to this past December when I was training for the Chevron Houston Marathon.

No matter how many miles I run, I’m still in awe that I’m even able to do it! As we celebrate 9 years of existence, I must acknowledge the community that birthed, raised and nurtured the runner that you all know today. This community has not only turned me into a runner, but also a better friend and community member. I’m forever grateful for your vision, leadership, and friendship, @builtbyyancey . I ran with @fleetfeetkatyrunningclub earlier this week, and it was a vibe! I got to test out the newly released Brooks Glycerin Flex and I must admit, I’m a fan! The shoe felt lightweight, and I loved how the back was supportive while the front of the shoe allowed my feet to move more freely than normal. My favorite part of the evening was making my own tie-dye socks. I’ll definitely be back to run with Fleet Feet Katy soon! by @omgabbyyy
