Instagram still capping me at 10 slides so now I gotta make another post smh. There aren’t enough slides to cover a year’s worth of experiences and hangs with people.

2024 has taught and shown me a lot. There were many good things: I got married! I dropped an EP! I got to connect with more people, collaborate, and really lock in on a sound I want!

It has also shown me some bad things: losing my job, my wife losing her job a week later, figuring out how to do music a bit more full time, the current state of our country (not great), the genocides, apartheids, and human rights atrocities going on around the world, and so on.

I don’t really know where I’m going with this post but I’m grateful to be here. A year ago my wife and I both agreed to jump and let the net appear. I was going to take a step back and work on a part time/call basis to focus on music. She was going to write more and start a podcast. I think it’s safe to say this year was like treading water and staying afloat in the middle of a mfing hurricane, and I hope we get to see the fruits of our labor next year and the years to come.

SOULECTION RADIO MIXTAPE: The Neptunes (Tribute)

Proud to be featured in the new @soulection radio mixtape OUT NOW! I reimagined a classic Michael Jackson track and it was heavily inspired by a “what-if” dream collaboration that Pharrell recalled in an interview. I can’t forget about Chad Hugo either, who I feel is the backbone of The Neptunes sound. He’s also Filipino, so I gotta put on for my fellow countryman in Fil-Am History Month. 😂

FULL CIRCLE • out everywhere NOW.

Omoidé’s next EP, titled Full Circle, is a culmination of 3 years of self-discovery and finding one’s identity through music. Following up on the success of his first project (What You Make It), a Soulection takeover in 2021, and relative notoriety in the Soundcloud space, Full Circle is an EP that looks towards the past of R&B, afrobeats, samba, and more, to fuse together today’s sound. Featuring vocalists Sophia Galaté, Sherren Olivia, and Aaron Abernathy, this EP is full of twists and turns that can range from D’Angelo to Fela Kuti, and then to Cleo Sol in an instant.

Just got back home. I’ve been inconsolable since. Please visit this amazing country when you get a chance. Not for the partying, not for the “favela tours”, not for jogo bonito, but to experience its culture, understand its history, and take in the scenery.

I know this isn’t my usual post about music, but Brasil’s connection to music is unlike anything I’ve ever seen. Consider this a digital postcard from me to you.

I’ve been thinking a lot about the creative process lately. Music is a portal to connect your past, present, and future selves. It’s an opportunity to re-parent your inner child while also filling your cup for your present life. It’s important for me to create, no matter how bad or good something will be, and no matter what kind of music it is now, because doing anything else would mean alienating myself.

It’s kinda crazy because @lonzooooooo came up with the idea just a little over two years ago and it really just happened spontaneously. I had a drum loop I was dying to use and Lonzo laid the keys and bassline down like it was nothing. I added the finishing touches with the drums towards the end and Lonzo with the crazy chops in the beginning. by @omoidayy
