We’re thrilled to share a historic milestone for our community: the Bachelor of Architecture program at Belmont University has officially been granted accreditation by the National Architectural Accrediting Board (NAAB)! 🎉 This achievement makes Belmont home to the FIRST and ONLY NAAB-accredited architecture program in Nashville. This recognition reflects the incredible dedication of our students, faculty, staff, alumni, partners, and supporters who believed in the vision of building a purpose-driven architecture program committed to design excellence, service, and impact. Student Work Wednesday ✨ Natalia Fierz, Architecture '29, shares a Studio 1 project titled, "Velato." "This project explores the design of a pavilion within a narrow passage on Belmont University’s campus, transforming an overlooked circulation space into an intentional experiential environment. The prompt emphasized creating a structure that supports movement, gathering, and spatial engagement within a constrained site. Grounded in the concept of an experiential veil, Velato investigates the relationship between enclosure and exposure through a fluid, fabric-like form. The design progresses from a taut, anchored condition to a more layered and lifted expression, creating a shifting spatial sequence that encourages exploration. Through iterative sketching and model-making, I explored how qualities of softness, movement, and translucency could be translated into architectural form. This process informed material decisions and ultimately shaped a design that reimagines the site as a dynamic and atmospheric experience." Student Work Wednesday ✨ Recent O'More Architecture '26 graduate, Terrance Carey, shares his Studio 6 project, "The Arts Multi Cultural Hub." "The Arts Multicultural Hub was designed as a community-centered space that celebrates cultural expression, collaboration, and creative exchange. The project called for a building that could support multiple forms of art while serving as a gathering place for diverse communities. The design integrates gallery spaces, performance areas, studios, and flexible gathering zones to encourage interaction between artists and visitors. My process focused on creating spatial connections that allow different programs to overlap and interact, reinforcing the idea of culture as something shared and experienced collectively. This project challenged me to think about how architecture can support inclusivity, storytelling, and community engagement through both program and spatial organization."
