san francisco is pretty much a photographer’s dream, so obviously when family and friends come to visit, they want the good photo spot. By now we’ve got the route down to a science AD

every time someone visits us, we take them on the same loop around the city because it just works. golden gate overlook for the moody bridge shot, crissy field for a different angle of it, the painted ladies because you can’t skip a classic, palace of fine arts since it’s basically across the street, and hyde + chestnut for the cable car spotting with alcatraz in the background.

bonus: there’s free parking at every single one of these spots, so no stressing about that on top of everything else.

we shot this whole loop on the OM-5 Mark II by @omsystem.americas and it’s become our go-to for travel photos. some reasons why:

🪶 super lightweight, so it doesn’t feel like a chore to carry around all day
📸 great for beginners and an affordable price point

Every vast scene is built from something smaller.

Exploring @wildbasin often yields some of my favorite photographs when I look down rather than out. With the @omsystem.cameras OM-5 Mark II in hand, I found myself responding to the landscape instead of wrestling with my gear.

Intuitive controls and responsive Live View make it easy to adapt and keep pace with fleeting moments. Combined with the flexibility of the M.Zuiko 12-100mm F4.0 lens, I could move effortlessly between the smallest details and the larger story unfolding around them.

The camera felt less like a tool and more like an extension of my curiosity, allowing me to stay present as the preserve revealed itself one detail at a time.

OM Summer School 2026 Lesson Two – Shutter Speed ✨

Settle down back there – here's the second lesson of this year's OM Summer School! This weekend we want you to think about SHUTTER SPEED. Adjusting the shutter speed means you can capture a precise moment or show time passing: slow it down for silky smooth skies, flowing water or motion blur and traffic trails – or speed it up for precise detail and action shots like you wouldn't believe.

Advanced photographers: we want you to try this too! Can you keep one part of a shot still while another moves? How about swapping them around – blurring a subject while the background stays still, or keeping locked on a subject while panning for motion blur?
