We are excited to be a finalist in the Victorian Aboriginal Business Awards (VABA) 2026! ✨

The awards are run by @kinaway_cc who this year introduced a new category - Community Impact - recognising an organisation that is that is making a meaningful and lasting contribution to its community through leadership, employment, education, partnerships, cultural initiatives or social impact.

"We have been a proud non-profit member of Kinaway for a few years now, but this is the first year we have put ourselves forward for the work we are doing to empower young mob through our free employment and driver-mentor programs," explained Executive Director Uncle Darren Moffitt.

Award winners will be announced in Melbourne on 6 November.

Donations help us deliver free employment and driver-mentor programs to more young mob so we are thrilled that Wodonga Wastewater Treatment Project contractors Icon CCB chose us to receive a $10,000 community donation as part of its support for local organisations.

Icon CCB connected with us early into its two-and-a-half-year construction project for North East Water to explore employment options for young mob.

We placed two participants with the business and provided mentoring as part of our Job Placement Support Program.

They contributed to the 150,000 labour hours that have gone into the project - an $84 million upgrade to ensure reliable and sustainable water and sewer services to support the Wodonga community for the next 20 plus years.

Icon CCB Project Manager, David Lill, said: “We hope this donation can assist On-Country Pathways in continuing to support and create opportunities for young people in the region.”

OCP's Darren and Jebb toured the completed project and presented Icon CCB representatives Bella Doyle, Tom Walker and James Phippen with impact certificates and messages sticks crafted by Uncle Phil Murray.

"My biggest goals in life were to become a carpenter and get my licence. I have now got my licence, and I am on the way to becoming a carpenter."

Our Job Placement Support Program helps young mob to find meaningful employment and careers across 16 communities across the Riverina Region.

Mentoring is at the centre of all our free employment and driver-mentor programs for young First Nations people.

We understand the barriers young people can face transitioning from full-time education into employment, so we walk alongside them for up to 12 months.

Our deadly team is here to support and empower our young people. 💪🏽
