Former TV journalist who helps camera-shy but ambitious entrepreneurs speak better on camera + improve their videos to attract premium clients

POSTS STORIES REELS

A shy online coach making videos to grow my business? I’m proof it’s possible.

I’ve been shy my whole life, but I wasn’t going to let it cap my potential. So when I was offered a job as a TV journalist, I took it—even though it terrified me. That one decision opened doors I never imagined.

Fast forward to today: we’re living in a digital world where video dominates social media. And once again, I’m not letting shyness be the reason I miss out.

Social media has created real opportunities to earn good income outside the traditional toxic workplace. I wanted that kind of freedom, so I started making videos to reach audiences across the globe. And you can do the same.

Your shyness doesn’t disqualify you from building a profitable online business. It just means you’ll have to be a little braver than most.

Can you ever really become comfortable talking to a camera? by @oncamera.speaking.coach

The irony of me making a whole video about why I don’t follow ALL of @garyvee ‘s content advice. by @oncamera.speaking.coach

The debate on long-form video on Instagram is focused on creator payments and the likelihood of boosted reach as a carrot stick for creators. But there’s a critical question no one is asking.

Instagram tried long-form before, so how does IG Jefe Adam Mosseri plan to make long-form content succeed this time? How will the platform make long-form viewing a habit when it’s trained users to scroll? by @oncamera.speaking.coach

Instagram has launched long-form video content...again. Remember IGTV, Instagram’s first attempt at long-form content?

Well, @instagram Jefe, Adam @mosseri has announced Features, which will allow content creators to upload 90-minute videos. So what does this mean for creators? by @oncamera.speaking.coach

Are we heading for a yapping backlash?

Yapping on camera has become one of the most recognisable social media trends, and it’s easy to see why online entrepreneurs love it. It’s simple, fast and doesn’t require a complicated production setup.

But when a content format and style becomes everyone’s go-to, how do you make your content feel distinctly yours?

I’m not suggesting we abandon talking-head videos. Far from it. I’m suggesting we inject a little creativity into how we do them.

Making the switch to talking-head videos doesn’t mean the algorithm will suddenly reward you with an explosive surge in views. You can yap on camera all day and still be the person audiences scroll past.

No one wants to hear you yap.

When audiences open up their social media, they’re looking for interesting content worth their time and attention. And if you’re using video to get clients and customers, that’s the minimum standard you need to meet.

Camera-shy entrepreneurs are now doing something they’ve avoided since social media first took off. And the yapping-on-camera trend is making it happen.

Why does so much yapping on camera sound like someone’s trying not to wake the baby? You know that hushed, low-energy, almost conspiratorial voice?

While that whispery style of talking on camera is everywhere on social media, monotone delivery equals lost attention…and lost attention means your audience is gone before your message has had a chance to make an impact.

How are so many camera-shy people suddenly talking on camera?

The yapping-on-camera trend has certainly created one hell of a plot twist. People who once thought talking to a camera was too attention-seeking or simply ‘not me’ are now voluntarily doing it.

So, what changed to make people cross a line they’d drawn so firmly before?
