“Maybe that’s enlightenment enough: to know that there is no final resting place of the mind; no moment of smug clarity. Perhaps wisdom is realizing how small I am, and unwise, and how far I have yet to go.”

To sit with this panel of women who said NO to being limited by their past or statistics was one of the great honors in my life. Mentoring women like this is hardly “work.” BLESSED.

Sometime around 2022 / 2023 I was teaching an introduction to lighting class at a local photography studio. I made practically no money teaching this class but it gave me access to a creative space and kept me in the direction of trying to make a living with my cameras. One evening I had two people show up to learn from me and it was Rosanne Austin and her husband Brandon. Fast forward to yesterday in Houston Texas and all three of us were in the same room together learning, except this time the teacher was Rosanne. The tiny studio in Idaho was now a gorgeous estate lit by chandeliers and the warm Texas morning sun. This woman had a vision for what she wanted and was not going to stop, my class was just a step along the way. What a blessing it has been to watch her excel in her work and to be able to grow along with her. ❤️

I have helped grow multiple businesses over the year’s around leveraging validation from others. The whole idea of the world trying to sell you something, is they have to make you feel less than first. Envy is a core principle in the marketing and advertising industry. If people are jealous of the item or the experience you have, then they will make sure they get to have or experience what you did.

In July of this year, that feeling of Validation from others in order to feel accomplished, a feeling I have been chasing my whole life, disappeared overnight. What changed? I finished a documentary that took me 3 years to complete and practically nobody said a word. Did that bother me? NOPE! Most people will never be honest with themselves and do the work needed to grow, let alone leave their comfort zone. I’ve been blessed to be out of my comfort zone for the better part of 15 years and sometimes forget how beautiful the journey has been.❤️
