Yesterday I got to climb the N Arete of Bear Creek Spire with my friend @timmy_mansfield.

I did not take good pictures, as my fingers were numb for a large portion of the climb. It was a brisk 37° when we left the parking lot!

Several times on the approach we had the “let’s just see how it feels at the base” discussion, both of us realizing that the cold and windy conditions were not the summer ideal we had hoped for. But we were prepared for the weather (mostly), so we decided to give it a go.

The actual climbing was really fun, the majority of the rock was great solid granite. Lots of fun flakes and knobs with some alpine surprises thrown in, including flexing fins and rather large ice and snow patches. The approach and descent were long and loaded with talus and emerald green lakes, which we drank from. It was a very enjoyable slog.

I felt quite accomplished back at the car. It reminded me that doing hard things, whatever that is, is possible and rewarding. The day made me grateful to have a body that allows me to be so tired and sore, in such an incredibly beautiful place.

It took us a little over 13 hours going car to car. That included me dropping a glove somewhere on the trail and backtracking to find it. Normally I would have just gone on without it, but I knew Id want it at some cold belays. When we got to the climb hours later, I couldn’t find either glove, assuming I “lost” them again, I climbed without them. Of course, unloading my pack at home… there they were, smiling at me from the bottom of the bag. Hope they enjoyed the trip as much as me! by @onechrislo

Kearsarge Pass conditions report coming in hot! Chris was up there May 20th and reported that there were only two patches of snow, both easy to cross. At 11,760 feet, Kearsarge is a great way to get up high. The higher you get, the better it feels!

This is me smiling, because i’m happy!

I’m happy here for many reasons, mostly because I have amazing, creative, and hard working friends and family that went through a really cool experience with me.

We shot and put together a short piece on an incredibly kind, hard working, and inspiring Bishop resident, Craig London with @rockcreek.packstation for @visitbishop and bishopvisitor.com (link in bio). It was a challenging shoot for many reasons. Logistical, financial, and definitely mental as this was my first attempt at producing a piece. Im pretty happy with it. Yes, if I had more time and money I would change a few things about the final piece. But I would not change the experience we had, as it happened exactly as it was supposed to!

If you get a few minutes, i’d love your support, so check it out and let me know what you think, good or bad. Even better, come to Bishop and take a mule packing trip with @rockcreek.packstation this summer. I’ts one of the coolest backcountry things iv’e ever done.

Thank you @danielkpictures and @robnotbobh for helping me shoot this and being rad. @dylanmhall for donating a beautiful time-lapse. @austinreeves_dp and @dcfilm for edit, @davidmbarrett395 for loaning us his beautiful property for the interview, and my fave @marielbrooke3 for being the best PA no money can buy 😉 taken in Bishop, California by @onechrislo

Last week me and @sand.it.solutions got to bag the East Buttress of MT Whitney. 11 Pitches of super fun 5.7 climbing with nice exposure and beautiful weather.

We didn’t do our homework, and were unprepared for the normal walk-off of the mountaineers route to be iced over, and without an ice-ax and crampons, we ended up improvising a way back to camp at Upper Boy Scout Lake.

The hike back to the tent was almost more memorable, and definitely longer than the climb itself. The moon was amazingly bright and a big help.

“Am I doing something wrong, or is this just how climbing works?”

My first climbing guide @dvstimson told me that one of his biggest accomplishments was aid climbing the nose of El Cap. I was in awe. And immediately knew I wanted that. But, he also said that as amazing as that singular accomplishment was, it was the journey to get there that he looked more fondly back on. I have to keep reminding myself that I am on that journey, in my own time, mistakes and all. Trying to be safe while pushing my comfort zone, and trying to remember to take it all in! taken in Mt. I was never a person to do passion projects, what a mistake. With the help of amazing people, and like minded creatives, beautiful things can happen!

This is the second session of shooting for @visitbishop with #rockcreekpackstation.

Challenges included loading mules with camera gear, generalized pain in my ass from riding a horse, and actually doing the work and not playing with friends.

Thank you @robnotbobh and @danielkpictures for being there and working tirelessly. Im the EP now, suckas ;)

Stay tuned for the final stuff!! taken in Bishop, California by @onechrislo

Very excited to announce that I am spearheading a series of projects for @visitbishop here in the beautiful Eastern Sierra, which this footage I shot is part of. The stories will be focused on the incredible, larger than life people that call this area home. And of course, the wild beauty of this place. Myself, @robnotbobh and @danielkpictures will be shooting this Saturday at #bishopmuledays , so if you happen to see us running around, come say hi! And if you have any desire to follow the making of these pieces, follow me over at @wander_more_media to see production updates. This is my first real shot at producing something of my own, so it’s sure to be an “adventure”! by @onechrislo
