20 years ago you came into our world all chubby and cute and fluffy. Little did we know back then that you would be the boss of us, telling us what to eat, when to eat, where to eat, and sometimes how much to eat! But you know what? I wouldn’t change a thing!!! Angel heart, on your graduation I think I’m supposed to impart some deep and meaningful advice, unfortunately I’m not so wise! I will simply tell you to stay true to that beautiful heart of yours, stay fun, funny, and silly, and life will somehow fall into place. We’re all so proud of you, and our love for you is beyond measure.

Today I was reminded of this illustration I made back in 2013, after seeing a similar and beautiful artwork on @dear.nostalgia. The accompanying text was as follows: Candice Ayoub Chidiac

My selfie.
Cut a long story short I am part Palestinian, part Lebanese, British Nationality. Escaped from Lebanon 3 times and changed schools 7 times by the age of 12. To the Palestinians I am not Palestinian, to the Lebanese I am not Lebanese enough and to the British I am not British. Identity crisis anyone? :)
The house looks like Lebanese houses, my heart belongs to Lebanon, much as I hate the place sometimes. The rope still nailed to the ground is my un-breakable bond with London. The cut ropes speak for themselves I think. The roots on the house, i take them with me wherever I go. The rainbow is a sign of hope.
Hope: that's me... :)

In spite of everything we’ve been seeing in the past couple of months, I still hold hope, and I wish with all my heart and pray that 2024 will bring only good things.
