This is what it looks like when working people have a fighter in Congress: no asking permission, no apologizing for being “too bold,” and no accepting that poverty wages are the best we can do.

Analilia Mejia ran on fighting for a living wage — and then came to Congress and fought for it. Her message is clear: working people aren’t asking for too much; they’re asking for enough to live. by @onefairwage

A living wage for all means a minimum wage closer to the real cost of living, with no exemptions for tipped workers, workers with disabilities, youth, or incarcerated workers.

That’s Pillar 1 of the Next250 policy platform.

Ask the candidates on your ballot where they stand, then vote your values.

Many of Michigan's Democrats showed up to serve brunch to Detroiters in conjunction with One Fair Wage.

Rep. Rashida Talib, MI Rep. Donavan McKinney, Detroit city council members Denzel McCampbell and Gabriela Santiago-Romero and MI Senate candidate, Justin Onwenu all gathered at Brooklyn Street Local for the event.

The lawmakers took orders, carried drinks and spoke briefly about the need for everyone to support the increase of minimum wage nationally.

Oakland is one step closer to a $30 minimum wage!

In a unanimous 4–0 vote, Oakland’s Rules and Legislation Committee advanced a proposal to gradually raise the city’s minimum wage to $30 an hour, sending it to the full City Council for consideration on December 1.

The proposal follows months of organizing and signature gathering by One Fair Wage, the Black Organizing Project, and community partners.

For workers facing soaring housing, food, and healthcare costs, the campaign is about more than a number on a paycheck. It’s about being able to afford to live in the communities they help sustain.

The proposal would phase in higher wages on different timelines for large, medium, and small businesses.

The fight for $30 in Oakland is moving forward.

The City Council has not yet adopted the increase, but workers and organizers have brought the proposal to a major decision point.

ONE JOB SHOULD BE ENOUGH.

Jeff Bezos, who's net worth is $375B, doesn't think taxing billionaires like him will help everyday people like teachers. We beg to differ.

🚨 BREAKING: RESTAURANT WORKERS ARE SUING CHILI’S.

Restaurant workers are taking on Brinker International, Chili’s parent company, in a class-action lawsuit, taking on the company’s sub minimum-wage practices that perpetuate racial discrimination and leave women vulnerable to sexual harassment.

Here’s what’s at stake:

Across America, tipped workers can still be paid a federal cash wage of just $2.13 an hour before tips — leaving workers dependent on customers for much of their income.

Workers are speaking up about a system that leaves women vulnerable to harassment and allows racial bias to influence earnings, schedules, and access to better-paying shifts.

Today, One Fair Wage joined workers, attorneys, and New York lawmakers outside federal court to call attention to the lawsuit and demand change.

No worker should have to tolerate harassment or discrimination to earn a living.

It’s time to end the tipped subminimum wage and guarantee every worker a full living wage, with tips on top.

The basics shouldn’t be a luxury. A single adult with no kids needs at least $20 an hour just to cover the basics in the cheapest county in the country.

Think about what that means: housing, food, healthcare, and transportation, the things every person needs to live, all out of reach for anyone earning less.

And that’s the floor, in the cheapest place to live.

In most counties, the number is higher, and it grows with every additional family member.

That’s why Pillar 1 of the Next250 policy platform calls for A Living Wage for All, a minimum wage closer to the actual cost of living, measured by the MIT Living Wage Calculator.

It also means ending exemptions for tipped workers, workers with disabilities, youth, and incarcerated workers, so that a living wage truly covers all.

No one who works hard should have to choose between rent and groceries, or between medicine and the bus fare to get to work.

We’re pushing for state and local policies now and a federal bill ultimately, because this fight is won one community at a time.

Ask the candidates on your ballot where they stand on a living wage for all.

Then make an early plan to vote.

¡Exigimos justicia, respeto y dignidad para todas! by @onefairwage

There is no such thing as unskilled labor. All work has dignity. And all work should pay a living wage.

Yesterday in Orlando, we were proud to stand with Angie Nixon and Rep. Ro Khanna, who joined One Fair Wage Action and restaurant workers for a Server for an Hour Event to spotlight the fight for fair wages and dignity on the job.

Across America, tipped restaurant workers can still be paid a federal cash wage of just $2.13 an hour before tips. Meanwhile, nearly half of American workers earn less than $25 an hour.

While the cost of nearly everything has gone up, wages seem to be the only thing that stay low. It’s time workers’ paychecks to finally catch up.

We’re proud to endorse Angie because she supports the Living Wage for All Act, championed by leaders like Ro Khanna and Sen. Chris Murphy, and has committed to making a $25 federal minimum wage a Day One priority when elected to the U.S. Senate.

The legislation would require large corporations to lead the transition to $25 an hour while giving small businesses a longer runway to adjust.

This is what real affordability looks like: lowering prices AND raising paychecks.

No one should have to work two or three jobs just to afford life’s basic necessities.

One job should be enough. Every worker deserves dignity. by @onefairwage
