Some big news:

We are open, but we are closing.

My heart is heavy but full and grateful as I write this post. For more than 7 years, this special little space has been my second home and the source of so much life and love. It has represented at least 80 artisans and 21 brands - all products we believe celebrate good design and living lightly. We have been so honoured to be trusted with the distribution of thoughtfully designed and made, often one of a kind, hand made work and to now count many clever, kind, courageous makers and collaborators as friends.

This has been the unexpected gift from this season: the friendships and the incredible community cultivated within these walls, (which we believe will endure even when they belong to someone else), this is the legacy of which we are most proud.

The gorgeous shopgirls who held me up, flexed patience with my admin and carried the cleaning, customer care and my oversharing, THANK YOU. It would have been impossible (and much less fun) without you.

We have been grateful for the trust afforded us in reimagining homes and workplaces and will be continuing with some very special interiors projects. Please know our project list is currently full for at least the first half of 2023.

Thank you for being a part of our story. It’s still being written, but in this chapter I have at last conceded my energy needs to be redirected to more sustainable ventures.

There is still much to say, but for now, just in case we don’t get to say it in person, please accept my huge, heartfelt thank you for your contribution to an extraordinary adventure. It has been an immense privilege to serve and share it with you.

Last semester, QUT IL4 students (3rd year architecture and interior design) were asked to re-imagine the onegirlstudio pop up shop as an installation within the cultural precinct at South Brisbane.

The project required students to consider design activism and hyperlocalism and participate in design toward change. That is, they were asked to question and demonstrate how design can play a role in giving people the voice to choose their own way of thinking and act themselves to be agents of change within and beyond boundaries.

A glimpse of stage one at the Chelmer VII house as it nears completion. This project involved the rearrangement of existing spaces to create an ensuite to the master bedroom that allowed for a full bath and large shower, linen storage and a separate loo, whilst navigating existing sky lights and unique windows.

This character house was also the client’s childhood home and care was required in preserving the nostalgic qualities of the spaces whilst delivering on the aspirational brief of a new family.

Making progress on my farming apprenticeship @burrumrivermacadamias

1 Our trees are fed from this beautiful river inlet👂
2 The orchard is presently dressed in its spring wardrobe - the sweetest smelling adornments thick with pollinators (the only free labour!)

Defects inspection • the compact ensuite in this character Chelmer (VII) home retained the existing wrap of shuttered windows without compromising on features needed in the rituals of getting ready.

Homes - almost all my working hours are full of considering aspects of the spaces we live in and the objects we use in them. In the first 20 years of married life, we had collected 15 addresses across 5 cities; I’d always planned to make some kind of visual record of these places that host so many memories and the work of @littlebrowndog always holds me to this intention.

The Queenslander home is such an iconic building to our pocket in the world; they are a perfect way to champion our state and our outback communities who also add so much to our national identity.

So in the spirit of celebrating our state this season, we are reviving the #Queenslander tea towel - a favourite collaboration with artist and maker Bec Lewis @littlebrowndog. 100% of proceeds will be donated to help fund the important work of our friends at @outbackfutures. Designed and hand printed in Ipswich on 100% natural linen.
