25 years later, and Aaliyah (The Red Album) is still the soundtrack to my life. ❤️🕊️I still remember buying this album the day it came out and playing it nonstop. From that first listen, I knew it was something special. Twenty-five years later, it still sounds just as fresh, innovative, and timeless as it did in 2001. It’s one of the few albums I can play from beginning to end without skipping a single track.Some of my absolute favorites are:❤️ More Than a Woman❤️ Rock the Boat❤️ We Need a Resolution❤️ I Care 4 U❤️ Never No More❤️ Extra Smooth❤️ What If❤️ Loose RapMore Than a Woman will always be my favorite. The music video, the choreography, the styling, the futuristic vibe, and Aaliyah’s effortless presence were simply iconic. It’s still one of my favorite music videos and performances of all time.The singles from this album—We Need a Resolution, More Than a Woman, Rock the Boat, and I Care 4 U—are still in heavy rotation for me. Every song brings back a different memory and reminds me why Aaliyah’s music has stood the test of time.Thank you to Missy Elliott for helping shape Aaliyah’s vision, Timbaland for creating a sound that was years ahead of its time, Static Major, and everyone who helped bring this masterpiece to life. When @djhapaboy dropped Miss You by Aaliyah to close out the night… yeah, that was the moment. 💜✨What a blast from start to finish. This wasn’t just a party it was for the true R&B lovers. Fourteen years ago today, I walked across the stage at Hawaii Pacific University and received my Master of Arts in Communication.At the time, I had no idea where life would take me — only that I wanted to build a career creating experiences, connecting people, and making moments memorable.Fast forward to today, and life has a funny way of coming full circle. For the last 9 years, I’ve had the privilege of working as an Event Coordinator at the very venue where I celebrated one of the proudest accomplishments of my life. Every event, every setup, every guest that walks through those doors reminds me that sometimes the places that shape us become the places we help shape for others.From student… to professional… to helping create unforgettable moments in the same building where my own milestone happened — that’s something I’ll never take for granted.Grateful for the journey, the lessons, the long days, the friendships, and everyone who believed in me along the way. This day 3 years ago changed my life forever. It’s the day I had my stroke. I can honestly say it’s been tough learning my new norms, loosing friendships and just figuring out life. But I’m in a better place and happy with my progress over the years. Life has been very hard, there have been days where I just wanna give up but I keep going I’m so happy to still be here.
