A little over a month ago, I was robbed at gunpoint outside my home.

Two men waited for me in the bushes, ambushed me, and pistol-whipped me, and got what they came for. It happened fast — and not a single word was exchanged.

This poem is how I remember that experience, and maybe, an exploration of how I might recover.

A month ago I wrote Reunion the week before my 25th.

Then I went.

Reunion II is what I wrote after. Three days, a few old friends, a couple of new ones, and the kind of conversations you don’t soon forget.
