I thought I should introduce myself to any new followers, I am Kris (short for Kristen), I live in Adelaide and I have been in business for nearly 8 years, working from my home office.I never really knew that I was creative, most of my working life in my adult years has been doing jobs such as a clerk, typist and secretary.Throughout my school years, I loved spelling and spelling bees, I think that is why I was interested in typing, secretarial jobs.Working in a number of companies straight from leaving school, I have loved each role I have had. I left the workforce when I got married and had my 3 children. I didn’t go back to work until my children were at school.My first marriage fell apart, I hit rock bottom and no longer was the person I knew, it had all been taken from me, my confidence, self-worth, my voice, I was a shell of myself.It took long time to leave this place that was rock bottom but with courage, strength and determination as well as support, I did. With courage and bravery, I took on share care of my 3 children with my controlling ex for 10 years, and unfortunately now, my children are estranged, all young adults. I remarried after some time and I worked for a cosmetic company for 9 years, the business then leaving Australia, I started my handmade card business.A place that I use to escape to from reality when times got tough, now my business. I love I found my creativity in cards, I have met so many wonderful people, virtually and in person.I create custom, handmade cards for businesses, wholesale all around Australia. I started writing in 2020 and became an author in 2022, writing Reflection in the Mirror- You are Enough affirmation book. How Linda’s gifting transforms her business to truly connect with her customers. Linda says “my clients are too special to give generic gifting”I have known Linda for many years, even though we haven’t met in person, I feel like I really know her and we can chat about anything.Linda creates beautifully personalised cookie sets, her passion really shining through with what she does.I have done many orders for Linda, each time she needs gifting, she always comes back to me with my personalised circle gift tags.I start by asking what colours she is using in the theme of the cookies and look at paper designs that match the best with colour and theme, communicating with her all throughout. Linda said to me “my clients are too special to give generic.”How beautiful, I absolutely love that.Each time Linda receives her parcel, she sends me a message that is truly heartfelt.I love being a part of her customers celebrations, a small part of bringing joy and memorable moments together.I just made some baby shower gift tags which I will share soon. Looking at yourself in the mirror, not easy but with affirmations read daily, it can be. I wrote these words in a poem because this is exactly what I found myself doing, seeing things I didn’t like. Reading affirmations and saying them in the mirror, changing the way I see myself and loving my whole self.Affirmations, words, changing your mindset, words who remind you that you are beautiful and you are amazing and to love all parts of you, yes even your curves. Writing affirmations to help others whilst transforming my life, helping me to heal. If you had told me when I started my business, I was going to be a writer and author, I would have said you were talking about someone else.Writing began from jumbled words in my head. At the time I didn’t know what they all meant so started writing them down, one by one phrases started to form, positive phrases that would become affirmations. I kept writing them, I couldn’t stop, more and more simply flowed.I loved writing, it started to transform my life. I feel it began my own healing process with my struggles that writing became a big part of my life.Struggles from bullying throughout my life growing up, into my school years, struggles with manipulation, control, put downs from my first marriage all leading me to a place of rock bottom.It was my writing that helped me to become stronger, braver, more empowered to be able to then help others with their health and wellbeing.I love writing so much, it began my journey as a writer and now an author of my affirmation book, to win awards and be featured in magazines.I am so grateful my writing is helping so many, (including me) helping individuals, students in schools, helping communities and so many more. Patiently waiting for florists who are tired of talking to 3 reps for their card supplies to find my account where they will only talk to me. Being a small business myself, I get it, so much time spent looking for suppliers, only to be transferred, talking to multiple people. You ring again and get another person, not able to talk to the original person you spoke to, it can be stressful, time consuming and overwhelming.At One Off Card Designs, you talk to me the whole way through, from start to finish, from enquiry to finished card.I will chat with you about colours, design, quantity, turn around time, answering all your questions. I don’t like my flabby arms, my chunky knees, now embracing them, celebrating my skin, reading affirmations daily.I wrote this affirmation because I know myself, it’s often hard to accept yourself and love yourself, everything about you, yes including your skin.You can be so quick to judge yourself, constantly choosing to see the things you don’t like about yourself, for me it was my ageing arms, my cellulose legs.I remind myself that I am not 18 anymore BUT I am still beautiful, I can still love my whole self, including my skin.It may not be smooth and flawless but it is me, I am who I am, no one else but me. Embrace all parts of you and love all parts of you.Since starting this collaboration early July, I have started to love my curves more, to embrace all that is me and to celebrate me. Being bullied myself at school, now my affirmation book helping students in schools with mindset, positivity, belief and speaking out. I often get asked “How did you get your books into schools?”.When I wrote my book, I hoped it would help many and with my husband being a primary school teacher, he said to me “your book would be great in schools, affirmations would definitely help many students and it also has large print to read easily for any year level”.It inspired me to start emailing schools, one by one to see if they were interested in my book.This started the process of writing hundreds of emails, to primary schools, high schools, universities. Slowly, I started to receive emails back with interest in my book. 21 schools within Australia, both primary and high schools wanting my book for their school libraries. I would love to have been able to borrow my book when I was at school or have lessons on affirmations in Health and Wellbeing lessons.I am truly honoured that my book is now helping students with their confidence, belief and speaking out, perhaps even helping them to stand up to bullies.Be strong, confident and empowered with affirmations.Follow for more of my journey......#writerofaffirmations #authoraustralia #writeradelaide by @oneoffcarddesigns
