As voting continues for the 2026 Western Living Designers of the Year People’s Choice Awards, we wanted to take a moment to revisit McKinley, our project representing SHIFT as a finalist for the Robert Ledingham Memorial Award for Emerging Interior Designer.

Located along the lakefront in Kelowna, McKinley was designed as a place for connection, a home shaped around the rhythms of everyday life, gathering, and moments of pause.
Every decision within the space was guided by a simple question: how can this home better support the people who live here?

Through thoughtful planning, material choices, and collaboration with our extended team, the project became a reflection of our belief that design has the ability to influence how we feel, function, and experience daily life.

If McKinley resonates with you, we invite you to cast your vote for the project in the Western Living People’s Choice Awards.
Voting is open until July 16, 2026. Link in bio.

Thank you for following along and for supporting the work behind this home. 🤍

We love the kind of relationships that evolve through repeat collaboration - where trust, shorthand, and shared design language continue to grow over time.

Michael (@onepointsix_studio) and the team at Minimal Cucine (@minimalcicine_vancouver) have been an important part of several SHIFT projects, and McKinley is another extension of that ongoing partnership.

Working together across kitchens and millwork systems has always been rooted in the same approach: restraint, precision, and a focus on how the space will actually be lived in.

That consistency shows up most clearly in McKinley’s kitchen - a space defined by quiet detailing, seamless integration, and a strong material clarity that aligns with the overall language of the home.

We’re excited to share more of this project soon, following its upcoming publication feature, where the full home will be revealed in detail.
