As we move closer to ONG 26, we return to the foundation, the people, the practice, and the process that shaped ONG 25.

We continue our faculty highlights with a cultural pillar whose work lives at the intersection of memory, rhythm, and performance — Vincentian storyteller, drummer, and tradition bearer, David “Darkie” Williams.

Grounded in the oral and performative traditions of St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Darkie’s practice moves between drum and word, weaving narrative through rhythm and rhythm through narrative. He works beyond performance; it is preservation. It is the holding and passing on of knowledge through voice, body, and beat.

At ONG, Darkie led sessions in Drama & Storytelling alongside Drumming & Rhythm Making, grounding participants in the foundational elements of Vincdentian/Caribbean performance — where story is felt as much as it is spoken, and where rhythm becomes both guide and memory.

His presence within the programme reminds us that theatre does not begin on the stage. It begins in the drum, in the circle, in the call and response of a people remembering themselves.

We honour his contribution to ONG 25, as we continue to build towards what is coming next.

"Mas is not just about the costume; it is expression, resistance, and culture in motion." — Denrick Woodley

We continue our faculty highlights with yet another homegrown artist. Vincentian mas man, designer, and cultural storyteller, Denrick Woodley.

As Band Leader and Creative Director of Imagination Mas, Denrick has helped shape some of Vincy Mas’ most socially charged and visually striking portrayals, fusing satire, symbolism, and meticulous craft. His work is not soley dressing the body, it is about moving the Vincentian spirit.

At ONG, he brings this same vision and precision to our Mas’ Design and Making sessions, inviting participants to explore mas not just as spectacle, but as a living, breathing language of identity, protest, and play.

🕺🏿FACULTY SPOTLIGHT | Kanille Brudy

Dance & Movement | St. Vincent and the Grenadines 📍🇻🇨

We begin our faculty spotlight series at home, with a Vincentian artist whose practice embodies the very spirit of O.N.G.

Kanille Brudy is a force in Vincentian & Caribbean dance and arts education. As a principal dancer and co-choreographer with Arabesque Dance Company, and a former member of Jamaica’s renowned National Dance Theatre Company (NDTC), Kanille has carved a path that bridges discipline, culture, and vision. His work moves through classrooms, studios, and stages across the region, but it’s here, in St. Vincent and the Grenadines, that his legacy takes root.

With a BA in Arts Management (Minor in Dance Performance & Choreography), a Certificate in Theatre Arts, and deep experience in community development and performance, Kanille brings a grounded yet expansive presence to the O.N.G. faculty.

✨ Operation Nex’ Generation is proud to be a space where local and regional artists come together to shape, nurture, and inspire the next wave. Kanille leads from the heart,with a body of work that tells stories, holds history, and commands space.
