When I first met Hunter 2 years ago, he struggled with the outside world and walking on the lead 😬

Hunter is one of those dogs who finds the outside world exciting 😄 and sometimes overwhelming 🤯

Previously when he became overwhelmed on walks, he would redirect with his mouth on to his human or the lead 😖

But look at him now - he’s still a little excited being out for a walk, but he walks loose on the lead and responds to his human 😍

(And if he does get a little too #Maligator🐊 then we redirect him to a tug toy!)

Hunter might be too much ‘Dog’ 🐺 for some people - but I love his energy and joy 💖

What being a ‘force-free’ guardian and dog professional means to me…

Providing opportunities for my dog to do ‘dog’ things

Respecting (and rewarding) my dog when she says ‘No’

Noticing and rewarding offered behaviours – not just the ones I’ve cued

Giving her food, affection, rest, and enrichment ‘for free’

Teaching her boundaries (without pain or intimidation) to keep her and others safe

Taking care of her health and adapting our lives as she goes through different life stages

Always striving for a relationship based on cooperation

One last thing… Cheers to all the amazing R+ and force-free trainers out there sharing their knowledge and content so that we all may learn better and do better

🌸 Josie’s story has a happy ending… Behaviour problems and health issues often go hand in hand. We’ve resolved Josie’s tummy issues, but also discovered she has mild hip dysplasia. With a careful diet and a conservative plan for supporting her joints, we’re seeing a happier dog who sleeps much better and bites less* 😅 (*As a mastiff x shepherd, biting for play is part of the deal 🎁) We love her so much and she adds a lot of extra spice and joy to our lives 💖 #dogbehaviour #surreydogs #malinoislove #mastifflove #rescuedog taken in Cranleigh, Surrey by @onkewdog
