You guys all know, that I'm a HUGE believer in Lure Scent. So much so, that I've designed and printed my own Onlyflattys Syringe for applying this awesome Scent. I mostly use S Factor as it's worked great for me.... UNTIL @strikerz_lure_scents has come up with this PRO SCENT and is just WOW 👌🏿 Pro Scent for me feels thicker and definitely stays on Lures longer. Has a great texture and applies easy. The smell obviously works, as ive now matched my PB and caught many close to the mid 90's.Add, that it's MADE IN AUSTRALIA 🇦🇺 and is Australian owned. Love the no screw lid also, making it faster for applications and zero chance of the lid making its way into the ocean 🫶 Thanks Tony to you and your family for bringing this amazing product to us 🙏Note: available @markbergsaddicttackle by @onlyflattys

IT'S COMPLETE 🙌Finally guys, my ideas have all come together, and I'm now happy with the final design. So what is it ??As you guys know, I'm 💯 a fishing scent user.I'm not going lure fishing without it !!!What i don't like about scent, is the part where you have to stop casting, just to add more scent 😐 SO..... I've come up with an idea, that i 3D print myself. What does it do differently? Well, i load my ONLYFLATTYS syringe 💉 with my favourite Lure Scent prior to heading out. It sits vertically in my pocket, and takes less than 6 seconds, to be casting again. No undoing lids, wiping slippery scent off my finger, just straight back to casting. Keeping mind, the more time your lures spend in the water, the more chance you have. I know by using this syringe, I'm way way more likely to reach for scent, and therefore I'm catching more fish. When targeting these BIG FLATTYS, all the small things add up, and I believe this plays a big part. These BIG GIRLS don't get tricked so easily, so all the 1% differences will help you 💉🙌DM ME HERE, IF YOUR INTERESTED 👍 by @onlyflattys

Sneaky trip to one of my favourite spots. Not the most favourable tides or time of year, but ill take it. Tested some new things of been working on, and so happy with them. Not only was I happy, the person that stole them obviously liked them also 🤣#addicttackletweedheads #flathead #uglyplastics #strikerzlurescents #tweedcoastmarine by @onlyflattys

Wasn't a bait fish to be found, other than the snag. BIG fish would also be there for obvious reasons 🐊 by @onlyflattys

Harrington ROUND 2 Goal was to get my birthday girl, a new PB, cause she's sick of me posting the same pic every year of her 59cm.We tried our best, but only managed a 50 for her, and 10 or so smaller models. She sent me out on my own this morning. FARK it was cold. Mist coming off the water, but no wind and a hightide, right on 1st light. Took 4 rods, all loaded with a different @mylurebox soft glide. A white, GC Glitter, Blue Gar, and Baby Flathead. The morning had that good feeling about it. Not long after the sun came up, the bait started flicking around on the surface. Scattered at first, bit then I found a patch that was pretty solid. Didn't take long, till I had a solid hit, but no hook up...grrrrI wasn't totally bummed, as I knew there would be more opportunities. Changed over to the Baby flathead colour, and 2nd cast..... CLUNK followed by what felt like a fumble. I set the hook, and she took off. I knew it was a good one, but wasn't a strong fish. Small bursts, but not many. I called ot for mid 80s on the fight, but realised as she got closer....it was BIGGER. As she hit the net, I called high 80s, and ended up going 92cm.I very quickly realised why the fight wasn't so strong. She was so so skinny, and just didnt have the condition to fight. Quick measure n pic, and she swam off better than I expected her too. Thanks to some locals for pointing me in the right areas 🙏 Big shout out to @crowdybayecoresort_ harringtonbaitand tackle. @markbergsaddicttackle @tweedcoastmarine @ugly_plastics @flknfishAnd once again the soft glides by @mylurebox doing the damage. Want BIG FISH ? I highly recommend them 👌🏿 by @onlyflattys

F I N A L L Y ✨️ A Propa 1 at home.Yesterday it blew it's arse out from the north... terrible wind to fish the Tweed.Today, was such a perfect day, and a total glass off the entire day. I knew the ramps and waterway, would be just to busy to fish my usual spots. SO.... I waited till late this arvi, when virtually everyone was off the water. So beautiful to be out there, but was hanging for a good fish, since its been months, since getting a good 1 in the Tweed. It was getting towards the end of fishing time, as the sun was starting to set. Sent a cast right up toward the bank. 2 twitches and WACK !!! Tricked me at 1st. Gave 1 of those rattle sort of takes, but than moved into some big head shakes, and started to pull line. Had her to the boat 4 times, but she was still to green. Finally, into the net, where she settled down. Once again, falling victim to @mylurebox soft glide in the GC GLITTER. Behaved for a quick measure n pic, before swimming off. Right on 80cm. I wouldn't say a Trophy sized fish, but definitely a relief. Hope you all had a great weekend 😀 by @onlyflattys

Did i just get what I have been chasing for 4 years ? 6 hours casting yesterday, without a touch. Perfect weather, clear skies and total glass off. Yesterday we couldn't even spook a fish. Threw everything we owned at heaps of shallow banks, and even some deeper spots. All for no result. Yesterday afternoon, I went and spoke to the Local tackle store Harrington Bait and Tackle. The guys were very happy to share some knowledge, and give me some pointers. Saturday morning... RAIN...WIND...COLDTotal opposite of yesterday. Oh well, I didnt drive over 5 hours, to sit in my cabin. Started out towards the Manning side of the system. Not much happening there, and very little bait hanging around. Banks were only just started getting covered with the in coming tide. Rain now had ramped up, and even know I had all my wet weather gear on, I was still feeling it. As the thought of giving up was setting in, a fly fisho on the flats came and had a chat. Said he got an 82cm yesterday, and that was enough to keep me Flickn....I moved around a bit, and than really started focusing on everything I have ever learnt about catching these fish. @mylurebox Jonny taught me that all the little 1% things add up... and once I really opened my eyes to the area around me, it happened. Found a little Inlet going into the mangroves, and moved the boat into the right position, where I could send a long cast up into it. Got hit halfway back out by a 71cm. It wasn't what I came for, but was still happy. I knew there would be more there, but left for 30 mins, so the others I spooked would hopefully return. Snuck back upto the spot. 2nd cast and I thought I was seeing things. This MASSIVE girl was so so focused on my lure, that she didnt even see me. 3 meters from the bow, in 2 feet of clear water. Here's this girl sizing up my lure, and doing that classic movement, of getting their body to the side of the bait, before she hit it. Incredible fight. Pulling line often, and making me grab the net, 3 times before I landed her. The stoke was real. I haven't gotten a good one, in what seems forever. BEST Birthday Present ever ✨️Full credit goes to @mylurebox Soft glide in MulletSecond PB 95CM by @onlyflattys

Reminder to stay safe out on the water 💧 And take no chances on crossing bars that could endanger you, or others. In the dark this morning, 2 guys had their 5 meter boat, overturned whilst trying to head out through the Manning Bar.It was only by chance, that myself and Matt aboard ONLYFLATTYS found these 2 guys clung to an upside-down 5 meter vessel. We pulled them aboard, to find out they had been in the water since dark, and 1 of the guys was bordering on hypothermia. Uncontrollable shaking. Both had no major injuries, but lost absolutely everything. No phones, keys, wallets....NOTHING, just the clothes they were wearing. 1st day of their holidays, and this happens. Before we all judge, this was just a simple mistake, and yes it could have been avoided, but there was a lesson learnt 🙏 Thanks to @barnzema1985 for helping to drag these guys into my boat. STAY SAFE 💙 @harringtonmarinerescue by @onlyflattys

Seriously!!!The last time I caught Propa fish in the Tweed, was back in November. I remember the day. I have never caught 3 over 80 in one day. Things were so good. Fast forward to now, and I haven't caught one over 50 since. I started doughting myself... asking "what am I doing wrong"? Have I forgotten how to fish ? Was i just lucky before? Have I changed my lure retrieve? WHAT !!! I have been in contact with many others, and they are saying the same. Even some of the local charters are really struggling. I met up with NSW FISHERIES and asked them a bunch of questions, but nothing really stood out. Water quality seems to look fine. No real signs of pollution. Netters supposedly doing a legal trade. What else can it be ? I was having followers, and others, constantly sending me quality fish on my @onlyflattys brag mats, and now nothing. Well, nothing in the way of size. Im constantly looking for these BIG fish, but coming up empty handed. I'll always throw at my favourite banks, and will always head in after ive exhausted the area, and try and spook any fish, or at least see their Lays, but this isn't a thing either. I see other flickers on the water, and ill either get a thumbs down, or a shake of the head. I invested some cash into a drone, and ive been searching for signs of them from above, but nothing....Im absolutely lost for the reason we have had such a shit turn around.... if anyone has any info, this would be greatly appreciated 🙏 Lonlyflattys 🤣 by @onlyflattys

If I had to ask one person anything flathead related, my go to is My Lure Box’s, John Costello. This guy is such a knowledgeable, infectious, all-round solid fisherman. Check out my interview here about catching BIG GIRLS 1. PB?97cm. Lure = Glide Bait 2. FAVE MONTH TO TARGET BIG FLATTIES?I believe they’re always there, it’s a matter of finding them. If I picked one, I would say LATE SPRING 3. FAVOURITE AREA?Nthn NSW 4. BEST OUTFIT?I use Shimano Vanford 3000 & a longer rod (7.2-8.6ft) with my ultimate being 8.3ft (5-10kg). Braid size from 12-20pd. Leader 16-25pd. Leader length 1-2m 5. WATER CLARITY?In dirtier water I find that a Soft Glide in Baby Flathead or Mullet gets the job done. In clearer water I would choose Whiting (white) or my new colour, GC Glitter 6. THOUGHTS ON RETRIEVE STYLE?I find a slow wind, with a little “tap-tap” to the side, followed by frequent stalls gives the lure longer air time & allows it to fall. This is where you will likely get that strike 7. BEST TIP?You need that big rod we spoke of to get the lure as far away as possible. The further you can cast it, the less chance there is of spooking these girls. Remember, slow things down, no need to wind in fast. And work a slow radius like a clock around the boat to avoid casting in the same place 8. SCENT?Yes 9. MOON PHASE?Great point. There’s a lot involved, so do your research & see what works with your style of fishing. In saying this, I’ve still caught fish during random phases 10. PREFERED TIDE?Not necessarily. But if I had to choose, water on top of shallow banks is the winner here BONUS: we’re having a slow day, casting for hours, doubt setting in. What’s 1 thing that could change the luck?Jumping Mullet. Big Flathead are so tuned in to the sound of Mullet jumping & more so, landing. The sound of my Soft Glides hitting the water imitates the landing of a Mullet. So don’t leave until the prey stops jumping or you land your DREAM SIZE DUSKY! THANKS JOHN COSTELLO for helping us nail that PB. Check out My Lure Box on YouTube, it really is THE ONE TO WATCH! by @onlyflattys
