Last night I dreamt that we were eating snacks at our dining table when I noticed a man (out of the window) advancing towards our house. If I were to profile him—respectfully—he was: country, construction worker-esque, decidedly threatening, moving quite speedily, wearing tall, tan boots. I LEPT up and locked the back door. He popped ‘round to the front. I decided it would be good to converse with him through the door. Feeling both frightened and emboldened, I said, “SIR, you need to tell us what you want.”. He said, “I want that stir-fry sitting in your kitchen.”. End of dream. Annalise analyzed this event in the morning and said, “A man is finally appreciative of your Asian-fusion cooking!!!!.”. Unsure what to make of this, I figured I’d share.

This app is no longer user friendly! And full of AI crap! Whytheheck are posts now in awkward rectangular display! For the last few months, I’ve taken to investigating coffee accounts and watching a stupid reel or 2 or 3 from the browser. But thought I’d redownload the app (gross) to drop an update (or 2 or 3). Anyway, here’s stuff that curious folks might wanna know:

We beans are doing well! We beans are in our last semester of college! SPOOKY! In the fall we enjoyed coffee from places such as: Crema, The Well, Dose, Sump, Fido, 8th&Roast, Honest, 2Hands, Glasshaüs, blah blah blah. We enjoyed said coffee in the company of: the beloved @daphne.ij , beloved pup (Ozzie) belonging to king&queen Perkins (hey @brennamperkins we love you). Also: each other, out of town friends, professors, peers, family, etc. etc. We took our coffee to places such as: the bell tower, Centennial, the climbing gym, our living room couch, and Radnor lake. Though not exhaustive lists, I’d say that about covers it from where we left off.

My guess is that we drank…hmmm…sayyyy…1,589.765 cups of coffee altogether in 2024?¿ A job well done lasses, @annalisekatemitchell @_sylviayates_ @emschmidtttt @lainholla @kz.reindl 🫡♥️

Camp coffee. Blueberry flapjacks. Raccoons. My personal belief is that coffee tastes better when grounds and dirt collect at the bottom of the mug and all you can smell is smoke and you’re wearing xl sweatpants and it’s 9 am and there’s evidence of a very exciting (and well executed) night siege from the neighboring critters. Absolute mischief. So yeah, it was a good weekend in Chattanooga.

Tired of these Friday night updates yet?¿

A very sentimental little photo (from September) of 3 cute gals @ the Well for Kayleigh’s 22nd birthday. I can’t remember what everyone ordered but I do know that the cuban is a favorite among we beans. In fact, it’s probably true that we’ve collectively spent hundreds of dollars on cubans here over the years. I wonder if we could get a badge for that. Or if some kind of cuban-drinking club might be created in our honor. That’d be cool. taken in The Well Coffeehouse by @onthebeans

A little summer feature because the temperature has officially dropped, fall drinks are out, and I (Bella) am simultaneously so happy fall is here and so sad that I no longer live 5 minutes from the beach, or from Moniker coffee 😪💔. Salt water and caffeine really fueled my July. I miss it reallll bad. Anyways, if I were *tactical* about posting on this account, I would’ve asked everyone for a summer coffee feature and shared them back to back. Buttt I didn’t. So you lucky folks just get me and my musings tonight. Honestly, cheers to the best, last summer as a college student!!! And cheers to being back with my fellow beans…to resurrecting an account that’s been active for years but might just have its best run leading up to graduation ;). Thank you Dylan for the great drink recommendations. And for the ground coffee. *Decaf iced Irish cream was a real winner.* Thank you Jessica for sponsoring this outing and for being such a wonderful mother to your kids + friend to all the rest of us. Also thank you for doing an Irish jig. That was crazy.

We started the day getting ready for KZ’s beautiful bridal shower and we ended it outside a Dutch Bros actin like hooligans.

I’d like to add a quote from Kayleigh herself,

Saint Patrick’s day feature: Okkkk, so this Saint Patrick’s day wasn’t quite as fun or festive compared to last year when Annalise, Kayleigh, and I were pub hopping in Belfast with family and friends, drinking some of the best Guinness I’ve ever had. 😭💚. We did however, make a trip down the road to Fido for their Irish Lady latte (Dirty Chai with Irish Coffee syrup and your choice of milk) and reminisced as we sat on the patio. Such good memories!!! So much LOVE for the island of Ireland!!! As far as I’m concerned, the whole week belongs to St Patty. And because we were feeling goofy, there’s a special shoutout to the state of Indiana, too.

Pretty sure that’s all for now!

Florida feature: Can’t remember the name of one of the coffee shops we went to, but Fox Mercantile was the standout anyways! Pretty sure we all six managed to get 6 different iced drinks. The caramel latte & the lavender latte were standouts. Five stars. Five stars for that tropical back patio too. Most of the week, we lived off of cold brew from Publix and magically made two of those purple Chobani creamers disappear. Wild how much coffee 6 beans can down. Feeling very grateful for beach time, and for spring, and for ☕️!

♥️ to you all this fine Wednesday,

Sorry Nashville, this Saturday I’ve decided Austrian cafes (and cappuccinos) are superior ♥️♥️♥️

For the heckin heck of it, here’s a photo from this coffee loving crew that was taken over 1 year ago, just down from @thecoffeehousefranklin ♥️☕️. A true favorite. We beans don’t really do New Year’s resolutions (as least I think we don’t), but I have a gut feeling 2024 will be one of increased, undeniably humor-infused, unsurprisingly sentimental, wholesome (but not exactly life changing) coffee reviews.

Peace out for the night,
Bella. Again. by @onthebeans

About 3 weeks ago all of the beans (except Sylvie who was already back in NC) tried to go to a new spot called the Library Cafe (in Germantown) but there was no room in the inn 😭…meaning every table was taken and all the other nooks & crannies were too. We ended up somewhere else (rip Taylor Street 🥲) and saved a visit for another day. Well, I tried it out the next week with a dear friend and thought I’d share my thoughts. We got specialty lattes and went wild with the fun syrup options. Anyways, here are some honest & *slightly more concise notes because this is a coffee review account after all…

-LOVE the historic home environment. That glossy black fireplace! Yes!
-It is quite tight in there. Honestly don’t know when you’d be able to find a seat unless you went solo midday when everyone else is out eating lunch. Not ideal :/.
-Probably better for local to-go. Which is a real bummer. 6.5/10
-Latte was for sure too milky. But another drink might be more balanced ?? 6.5/10 again
-Great book selection, popular titles on the shelves but some under the radar looking reads too.
-Ummm felt a little awkward to be in there with a friend wanting to chat because the handful of other folks were in fact, reading….so we mostly whispered. Which worked. But that’s a fair warning for the rest of y’all.

Ultimately, I appreciated the thoughtful interior and the intention to provide great coffee & literature…but don’t feel like it was executed in a functional way :(. Maybe fondness will grow after a 2nd visit. Shall keep y’all updated.

Xoxo,

Taking a quick break from writing a final research paper (on the shifting notions of sanctity between ancient female saints and modern female saints. Why do I do this to myself 😅) and thought I’d share a few photos of probably our most well-orchestrated, intentional, roommate coffee date of the semester. Barellyyyy squeezed it in there.

This is the 2nd year in a row we’ve gone to Two Hands in December and it was STELLAR. Big fans. We ordered vanilla iced coffee, cappucinos, hot lattes…I think that covers it. Then we devoured the most lovely pavlova (@annalisekatemitchell was reallll excited about it, especially after we told her it was indeed, a dessert item 😌) and all kinds of breakfast plates.

What made this outing slightly different than last year’s is the fact that we’re only parting ways for a few weeks this Christmas, and not saying goodbyes for 6 months. Though I couldn’t have been more excited to go abroad last January, it’s comforting to know we’ll still be living together come spring. After that, Miss Kayleigh Zubrod becomes Mrs. Kayleigh Reindl, and we enter our last year as Belmont students. 🥸🥸🥸 Sheesh! Where’d the time go!? Marriage and graduation and job applications!? Feeling wonderful anticipation and a bit of healthy fear about all of it.

For now, I’m just glad to document the funny/sentimental happenings of this present season, and am content to let the flow of time take us where we need to go.

Merry Christmas to all ♥️♥️ -Bella taken in Two Hands by @onthebeans
