On The Inside is 5 years old today! ❤️

A dream turned into reality to serve women and youth living behind bars and offer a weekly space to heal, create, play, and love each other.

From 1 state to 6 US states, and 1 Australian state. (Pssst we are adding a new one very soon.)

From a team of 1 to a Dream Team of 9.

From work inside to regular work outside as our students are released.

A book, new programming: 4 class and 8 class creative series, 8 week trauma informed movement series, ongoing weekly yoga, and a 200 hour yoga certification.

Plus, cooking right now: 50+ movement program, more peer led programming, peer leaders inside facilities, and a mom/child program.

This work is transforming lives from the inside out.

One year after her release, Adrienne walked back into prison, this time as a facilitator. 💜

Together, we led a workshop in Missouri on acceptance and finding shelter in the storm. Through movement, art, and reflection, we explored how to acknowledge what we’re experiencing without having to say it’s okay, and what we can turn toward when life feels overwhelming.

This is the work we bring into the room: opportunities for women to express themselves, connect, and imagine what comes next. Bringing lived experience into that space offers a powerful kind of understanding.

On The Inside’s mission is to empower women to change their story. Adrienne’s return as a facilitator is one meaningful example of what that can look like.
