Looks like some folks in Portland saw some cardboard cycling action last night. Congrats to Matt for taking the right risks and making the winning moves. If you get a game to the table, snap a photo and send it my way and let me know how your race played out.

This All-Star decided to show off for the sponsors (7) and moved from a decent (+1) across the flats (+1) and into the mountains (+1). In order to guarantee his place in the mountain pass, he took a Risk (+1) which triggered. The Event was Strung Out, which moved the All-Star an additional 8 spaces, for a total of 19 altogether. Show-off indeed!
🎁 I still have a handful of copies of the Premiere Etape printing of "On the Rivet: The Race for the Champion's Stripes." Get 'em before they're gone. Link in bio.

Cross the Rivet? Not quite. After things quieted down, post KS, I started doing some historical research and messing around with some new game concepts that have nothing to do with racing. But while I continue to seek sources and absorb info, I couldn't help but build out a mini cyclocross game. Some elements may seem familiar to fans of On the Rivet, but it will play in an entirely different way (and ship for a lot cheaper, too). Stay tuned!

First of all, thanks to everyone who has provided feedback on their experience so far; lots of good affirmations and questions, but nothing too challenging or worrying. The final Team Tactics expansion was boxed up today and is Norway-bound, which means the first 50 copies have 🚨SOLD OUT🚨. But with the last of the wait-list contacted, sales of On the Rivet are now open to the public, so you haven't missed out completely! To get your hands on the limited Premierè Etapé printing (first 100), send a message to ontherivet@littletinyfish.com and I'll provide payment instructions. Want more info? "On the Rivet" was featured on a show called "The Games We Play," produced by Shannon Maynes, a student at the Milwaukee Area Technical College in partnership with Milwaukee Public Television. Two other local game designers with two completely different types of games were featured as well! The show will debut on TV in early April, but you can stream it in full now. Check the link in bio.

@mhzillmer and I often played games together in the before-times. Looking forward to getting back to it when it's safe again. My favorite times are the annual summer afternoons on the back porch drinking rum, eating jerk chicken and playing Junta, a game of political maneuvering where players try to smuggle as much foreign aid as possible into their swiss back account. It's very back-stabby and slights are not easily forgotten, so when we break it out every year, tensions from previous plays are ever bubbling. I'm not normally into that style of game, but his hosting skills are on point. Can't wait to get back at it. Thanks for your support!

Every year hundreds of new games hit the shelves, and even if you only play half a dozen new games a year, memorizing all the rules tends be a bit spotty (for me, anyway).
🚴
In On the Rivet there are 3 different phases and it's easy to drop a rule here and there, so I've included some quick references at the bottom of every player mat so each player can run their turn one step at a time. After reading a 20-page rulebook it's relieving to know that "Oh, I only need to worry about 4 steps."
🚴‍♀️
The risk manager also contains a reference for the Reorg and Endgame phases (which are usually managed by the host, but good for players to know).

A little local flavor easter egg. Milwaukee's airport boasts the only Recombobulation Area (where travelers can reorganize themselves after dismantling their outfits and all their worldly possessions at the security checkpoint). In "On the Rivet," this Recombobulation ability was added in the late stages of development and is the only time in the game you don't have to play with the hand you're dealt.

Shipping out to so many different places around the world was pretty exciting (and also low key terrifying and stressful because I have never done this before). But now you could play this game on 5 of 7 continents (and a few of their neighboring isles), if you knew the right people and were willing to travel.

Doing a little new game maintenance. The nice thing about laser cut boards and tokens is the flexibility it allows and the inexpensive price point for small-run games like mine; building punch dies is much more expensive at that scale. The downside to laser cutting is the soot. Heat + chipboard = a little bit of extra carbon in each box. Thankfully it only has to be a minor annoyance, as most of it can easily be wiped off with a very (very) slightly moistened cloth. Do this once and enjoy a soot-free experience from then on.

Light balancing. I (not pictured) was interviewed about the creation and release of "On the Rivet" for a feature on our local board game design scene! It always takes a bit to warm up to the camera lens, but I'm putting my trust in the editing process that the final results will be fit for broadcast. It also helps to have a furry, resident mic-checker on hand to ensure the level of quality stays high.

Happy to feature @breakerpressgames in the Premiere Etape release of "On the Rivet." This group has been very helpful in offering guidance towards the successful Kickstarter. Truly, it wouldn't have happened without their encouragement and an occasional handy smack to realign my perspective. Give them a follow, especially if you're into the RPG side of gaming.
