How did I really start running? London Landmarks Half Marathon Powered by: ✨ LONDON CROWDS (insane) ✨ EDM playlist forever (🪩) ✨ Dates as fuel (lol) Such a fantastic experience. For the first time I ran a race at a comfortable pace, fully enjoyed the views and the spectators. Not by choice; life made me slow down, but honestly it was awesome. Massive thanks to @tommys who gave me this opportunity to run @londonlandmarkshalf and to be part of this wonderful fundraising journey and thank you to everyone who has donated 💛 all charities combined have raised an outstanding amount of £14,784,289, which so many of you are part of! To my hubby who followed me to around London on a bike 🚲 and is always there to support me - thank you! To Aminah @eatpastarunfasta__ and her wonderful community @girlswhorunlondon for always inspiring me and being the best running community there is 🩷 I was glad to have part of you with me and run in the most comfortable @sweatybetty clothes - not once I had to pull my shorts (my forever nightmare) and although they were gifted I can honestly vouch for their quality! 💖 To everyone else who knew how important this run was to me, and why I had to take it easy, for your support and encouragement I am forever grateful. xoxo from the bottom of my heart I will treasure this day forever in my heart ❤️ #londonlandmarkshalfmarathon #girlswhorunlondon #tommys #teamtommys #londonlife by @ontherun_julia
Some spontaneous decisions are the best - I never thought I would enjoy being part of such a wonderful community. No strings attached, yet so many lovely bonds can be made. But it's only as good as the mastermind behind it @eatpastarunfasta__ - I could tell you all about her but if you can join GWR and see for yourself what a wonderful soul she is🩷 @girlswhorunlondon @theidler_london - always a pleasure! @indewild - thank you for our cute hair makeover, our pink bows helped to find one another in the London crowds! Yes. We did stop the tourists at Westminster Bridge for a group piccy 👀 👀 👀 Cup is always full after a day with GWR 🩷 #girlswhorunlondon #runningcommunity #running #london #motivation by @ontherun_julia
MEDAL-MONDAY - 2024 vs 2026 - VENI VIDI VICI I finished 17m47s faster than in 2024, but the biggest achievement isn't the time, it's the elevation. I said to myself - I will not stop at any hill no matter what. I am glad my body cooperated. I decided to do Watford Half in 2026 as 2024 was an absolute fiasco all along - the biggest one being not checking the elevation profile (both me and my coach failed to do so). I nearly passed out during the race and messaged my husband to be on standby, just in case. I gave it a miss in 2025 as I was travelling in January so going unprepared would have been a fiasco no2. My aspiration initially was sub2, but in January, life hasn't been easy, especially towards the end of the prep. Everything up to my birthday was going super well then I literally felt like life has pushed me off the high mountain. I had to slow down, I needed to make sure I didn't put myself under any further stress and focus on rest. As much as the physical aspect is crucial, I cannot stress enough that having a 'healthy mind' is just as important. Could I have done better? Surely. However I did my best with the resources I had. Watford Half - thank you but I won't be back anytime soon🙂‍↔️ unless I feel I need a challenge 😂 #halfmarathon #watfordhalf #motivation #medalmonday #running by @ontherun_julia
WEEK 10 AND 11 - THE RACE WEEK ENTERED THE CHAT 🫴🏻  Not gonna lie...with the short days, lack of sun, it was a daily survival to carry on to the end of this prep. Life happened. Stress happened. But I didn't give up - I just let things flow naturally. It wasn't easy. I felt like giving up. But then I remembered why I signed up for all of this. So here I am, now letting my body rest before the race on Sunday. RECOVERY - SLEEP - NUTRITION - NO NONSENSE - NO TESTING Just sticking to what I know works for me. We almost at the end of Jan LETS GOOOO 🔥🔥🔥  xo #running #halfmarathonprep #selfcare #motivation #inspiration by @ontherun_julia
W E E K 9 🌺 🎽 💨 The mileage of 13.1 which I am getting ready for is clearly not a coincidence 👀 👀 Today I turn 31. The first year of my 30s was revolutionary and made me realise how beautiful life is: 🌺 I understand my needs better 🌺 I cherish my marriage everyday 🌺 I love my family despite their flaws 💪🏻 I ran a full marathon, which isn't normal, it's fucking difficult ✅ I know and respect my boundaries ✅ I know what brings me joy 🌸 True friendship can be distant but very real 🌸 I feel more calm and don't stress over nonsense 🌸 I nourish my mental health as well as my physical health 🌸 I value therapy as much as exercise 🌸 I have improved my relationship with food, something I struggled with in my 20s ♥️ I joined social events to meet like-minded people ♥️ I have gone out of my comfort zone ♥️ I love Ibiza and sober raving my thing ♥️ I know I can't change others, but I can change myself ♥️ know when to take a step back But I also know when to live like there is no tomorrow 👀 As the chapter 31 begins all of my dear friends you made me feel more special than ever. Forever grateful I am for that. xoxo 💋 #birthdaygirl #selfcare #winter #birthday #inspiration by @ontherun_julia
W E E K 7 & 8 🌞✨ A week full of cold frosty walks, treadmills, cold plunges and the last long runs of this training block. Weather makes it challenging but small habits bring great results. Appreciating the healthy routine and taking each day as it comes 💛 Consistency > Perfection Also glad I won't get the thermal shock going to the Polish mountains since we had a winter weather touch in the UK 😂 #runners #prep #motivation #selfcare #healthylifestyle by @ontherun_julia
W E E K 5 & 6 🎁 Juggling Christmas Hosting, half-mara prep and cold wasn't easy but the right mindset and habits helped big time Signing up to a race early in the year always keeps me motivated to stay active throughout winter. 🌺 Listening to your body is more important than all or nothing mindset ✅ 🌺 Asking for help is not a sign of weakness ✅ 🌺 Christmas is to be enjoyed not to diet ✅ 🌺 Skipping a run because you need rest is okay ✅ 🌺 Treadmill was welcomed back ✅ 2025 THANK YOU ♥️ I saw beautiful places, ran a marathon, met wonderful people and learnt a lot about myself. #christmas #recap #photodump #running #runnersofinstagram by @ontherun_julia
W E E K 💝 3 & 4 Whilst you train - life is happening Travelling Meeting friends December birthdays The culture in Poland often means drinking and I am terrible at saying no Mum's off plan meal she put heart in to make for you Doctor telling you something you don't want to hear In my case I still found room to do my runs even though the last two weeks were intense. Because for me, running my ME time to process my thoughts alone, undisturbed, it's more than just 'training for another half marathon'. Whatever that 'ME time' is for you, it's very important for your mental health, to avoid overthinking, overstimulation and to find a good balance. However I am no superhero and the cold caught up with me trying to sabotage my training block, but glad now not during the Christmas Week 🎄 🎁 not long to go now I love Christmas time tingalingalingaling sugarbeanzzz #trainingmotivation #halfmarathonprep #halfmarathonrunner #running #motivation #runner #christmasiscoming🎄 by @ontherun_julia
Week 2 of the prep was a mental game. Workouts were great but worklife was completely against me to the point I was mentally drained by Thursday. If it wasn't for Aminah @eatpastarunfasta__ and her running group @girlswhorunlondon I would have done a lone long run and become a couch potato for the rest of the day. Instead my batteries were supercharged right back to the top and it was the best decision ever to join the Girls on Saturday even though the plod was longer than we initially planned and the weather wasn't very appealing 👀 #superpowers @arabica_unitedkingdom is also my new fave coffee place 👀 I already googled nearby locations so I can have a cheeky coffee every now and then Beyond grateful and onto week 3🩶  #runningmotivation #raceprep #girlswhorunlondon #girlswhorun #empowerment #london #ldn #cityrun #arabicacoffee by @ontherun_julia
HALF MARATHONS PREP WEEK 1. 10 weeks to go till Watford Half. 20 weeks till LLHM. The weekly plan is to do: 🌸 3 runs (long, easy and intervals) 🌸 2 gym sessions (need those muscles!) 🌸 1 mobility session (compulsory when WFH) Whilst life is happening, it is possible. All it takes is some planning and consistency.  This is your reminder - Stick to the basics and don't overcomplicate things. Decent sleep, nutrition and nourishing friendships kept me going this week 🩷  Here is to week 2 and Happy Monday everyone!  💋 xoxo #runningmotivation #runninggirl #fitnessmotivation #halfmarathonrunner #raceprep #running by @ontherun_julia
During the last park run I realised my breathing is terrible. I probably wasted lots of energy on taking enormous breaths and most of the time I was not even aware, with music and headphones (your EDM girl here has it on loud 🎵) That doesn't mean to suddenly throw your ear pods in the bin and start running without them, but it may be worth doing a couple of runs without. And it all goes back to the same thing - BASICS. Even in math - you can't proceed to more difficult tasks if you can't get your basics right. Running isn't much different. Get the basics right and your runs will flow. You really don't need to overcomplicate it 🧡 💋 xoxo #RunnersOfInstagram #RunningInspiration #RunningTips #running #runninglove #basics #breathe #consistencyiskey #FitnessMotivation #RunningInLondon #runninglife by @ontherun_julia
