Yesterday I set out to run 20 miles.
I chose a new scenic route.
Newness meant unfamiliarity.
It meant surprises.
Mainly surprise rolling hills that depleted my quads at mile 10.
6.4 miles later, I finally tapped out.
I felt defeated.
But then I quickly remembered my training from last year.
The 20 mile goal wasn’t met, but the run still counted.
The run still prepared me for Queensboro Bridge.
And I ran New York City like I owned it.

And I will do it once again.

Yesterday, I ran 16.4 miles on more hills than I’ve ever ran before, close to my marathon pace, at high altitude .

My baby’s first season back after taking a 9-month recovery break after injury. He said mama I’m coming back like I never left. And DID! He received the game day ball yesterday. Today is the first day of @stillirun National Run for Mental Health Week Challenge, and I kicked it off with a bang securing my fastest mile ever at 8:05!
