Sometimes you have to stop and pat yourself on the back.
That’s what I’m doing today.

Even more special that it was the opening film at the NollywoodWeek Film Festival Paris.

There’s something about seeing words that started on a page travel this far.

As a writer, it never gets old.

Three days ago, I lost my father.

My first instinct? Hide. Pretend grief didn’t exist and shut down before the emotions even started. And today, a day I should be celebrating, I almost did it again.

Honestly? I was exhausted. This year has been one lessons after lessons.

I asked God if he wasn’t done and what more I needed to learn- especially for this?

It took me five years to process my mother’s passing. And now this?

People love saying, “The Lord gives His toughest battles to His strongest soldiers.” Well, this soldier is tired.
But then I remembered where I was this time last year.

A year ago today, I was sulking behind my laptop, refusing to celebrate what everyone called a “milestone age.” I was dissatisfied with everything; my decisions, my indecisions. i pushed the celebration to next year, when I had achieved everything I didn’t this year. It’s my own arrogance for me, thinking I was writing my own story.

Well God had other plans. He said, “You’ve spent 30 years doing you but this year, it’s about Me.” And so began the tug-of-war until I finally let go and let Him.

I thought work would fulfill me. It didn’t.
I thought friends and family could fill the gap. They couldn’t.

Christ did. Christ does. Christ always will.

This year I finally understood what His death, burial, and resurrection actually mean. How massive that is. Everything I did came from that standpoint. Even in my imperfections, I rested in His perfection. The cross stopped being just “eternal security”, it became my everyday operating system.

So yes, this news could have wrecked today. But I choose to rejoice. Because absent from the body is present with the Lord. I choose to remember that Abba is wildly, completely in love with me. That He’s never once made a mess of my life. That His plans- perfect, precise, unstoppable, always prevail.
I rest in the assurance that God loves me far more than the devil could ever hate me. My life is hidden safely in Christ.

So as I whisper goodnight to my earthly father, I also exhale knowing all is well.

I’ve been privileged to sit in the room with this man God has used to not only open my eyes to the truth of His word but to remind me that HE HAS ALREADY DONE IT ALL.

Sunday was special for me. God wants me to let go of the many lies religion has fed me and take all that he has given me starting with SALVATION and his very presence that I carry.

Daily I’m learning about my identity in Christ and purposefully walking in the truth of that knowledge.

These clips are a few nuggets from the sound teaching on Sunday.

Come and hear the gospel every Sunday at 9am and every Wednesday at 6pm.

God’s love is promiscuous enough to save you and powerful enough to change you.
