Yesterday, at my Old Girls’ meeting in Abakaliki, two of my sisters were talking about their surprise pregnancies, and how frightening and overwhelming it felt.

The others were wondering aloud, “What would I even do if I suddenly ‘fell’ pregnant?”😂

And I said, “I understand how you feel. I really do.”

And just then, it dawned on me again that life comes in stages.

Look at me now.

No fear of pregnancy.
No baby tugging at my clothes.
No little person completely dependent on me every minute of the day.

But when I said I understood how they felt, I truly meant it.

I know what it feels like to have a baby, finally get through those exhausting months, wean him or her… and then discover that you "fell"pregnant again.

Something that is "supposed" to be a joy can suddenly become a source of worry.

You start thinking about how you will cope.
How you will manage.
How you will care for another baby when the one you have is still so dependent on you.

To every young mum currently raising very dependent children, I just want you to know this:

One day, this season will become a memory.

The sleepless nights.
The constant carrying.
The feeding.
The toddler clinging to your clothes.
The feeling that you can never sit down for five minutes without someone calling, “Mummy!”

One day, you will look back and it will almost feel like a story you are telling someone else.

So, Mama…

Just hang on.

You will get through this season.

And when you finally do, I hope you won't suddenly start saying,
“Hmmmm… maybe one more baby…” 😂😂

Because, my sister…

THEN YOU WILL FLY!😂
