The muted lighting and shadows cast an enigmatic atmosphere, capturing an intimate moment of interaction between the two, their features obscured but their presence palpable. The graffiti in the background hints at an urban setting, adding to the sense of mystery and depth in the scene. taken in Ogun, Nigeria by @onyinyegrey

Through humility and repentance comes the promise of eternal life. Everything is temporary, so create space for grace. Embrace what truly matters, and find clarity in what remains… Ash to ash, dust to dust. by @onyinyegrey

Moments like this, volunteering with the Solid foundation teens and youth ministry (STYM), a Lagos faith-based NGO that’s been thriving for over 35 years, always remind me of what truly matters.

Impact isn’t always loud; sometimes it’s in the small, consistent moments like showing up, listening, guiding, and simply being present that matters the most.

Real impact grows over time, in hearts, in habits, and in the courage these young lives carry forward.

As STYM continues its mission of empowering the next generation through faith, mentorship, and education, I’m reminded that purpose is found not in titles or recognition, but in service.

Earlier this year, The Herds made a stop in Lagos and I was chanced with the opportunity by a fellow creative… to witness a piece of the of action unfold(literally lol) behind the scene.

The preparations in constructing these magnificent animatronic creatures reminds me how delicate life is and how showing respect and appreciating life outside of our own human existence is important to the survival of the planet.

*The Herd is parade of life-sized animal puppets.
It includes elephants, giraffes, antelopes and lions made from recycled cardboard, plywood, and metal.
The project began in the DRC capital of Kinshasa and travelled through Africa and Europe to raise awarenes: about the dangers of climate change*
