CALL THE SNAKE CATCHER…….
A day gardening in the Aussie backyard. This 1.3 metre Red Belly Black Snake decided to make our garden its home. The snake catcher searched the garden until he found it and $300 later he had himself a snake.

It’s a celebration tonight here at Huaca Pucllana Restaurant in Lima as this is our farewell dinner as tomorrow we all go our separate ways. 13 people who had never met before and we have just spent a month together travelling through Ecuador, Peru and Bolivia and all got on so very well. What an amazing adventure we have had. It’s a special celebration because Jemma the youngest member of our group is having her 40th birthday.
The back drop for this wonderful restaurant is the adobe and clay ruins of a massive pyramid dating back to 200 - 700AD.
Safe travels and thanks for the memories. by @oomycree

The Larco Museum in Lima, Peru provides a thorough overview of 5000 years of Peruvian pre-Colombian history. It has also won awards for the most beautiful garden in Peru by @oomycree

The capital city of Lima, Peru. It sits on the central Pacific coast along the Rimac River. Founded by Spanish conquistador Francisco Pizarro in 1535. It has a population of over 10 million people in the metropolitan area. Beautiful plazas, lovely clean avenues, government buildings and stunning architecture. It feels safe and welcoming, with a European vibe.

The Uros Floating Islands on Lake Titicaca. These are man-made islands about 2 metres thick made entirely of local Totora reeds that need constant maintenance. They are anchored in place by way of long poles driven into the mud on the lake floor. Typically 2-5 families live on each island with as many as 1500 -2000 residents living on 60-120 islands, this changes as some islands deteriorate and new ones are built. by @oomycree

It’s beautiful weather for a day out on Lake Titicaca in a fast boat to visit Isla del Sol, (Island of the Sun) the largest island on the lake in Bolivia. According to ancient legend this is the birthplace of the Inca sun god Inti and the mythical origin place of the first Incas. We climbed up to a lovely view point where we were served a great outdoor lunch. The view out over Lake Titicaca to the distant snow covered Andes Mountains was stunning. by @oomycree

This is Copacabana Bolivia. The Basilica of Our Lady of Copacabana, is a 17th century Spanish-colonial shrine on the shores of Lake Titicaca. It houses the dark wood statue of the Virgin Mary which is the patron saint of Bolivia and is believed to be attributed to reported miracles. by @oomycree

One foot in Peru the other in Bolivia. We have crossed the border into Bolivia at the town of Copacabana. In Bolivia they take their highly decorated cars to the Basilica to be blessed by the priest for safe journeys. They spray them with Champagne or similar, what a waste. There was a line of cars the day we were there and the road was sticky from all the champagne. by @oomycree

Our first glimpse of Lake Titicaca is from our hotel in Puno, Peru. Titicaca is the largest navigable lake in the world sitting at 3810 metres above sea level on the Altiplano (high plateau) the second largest high plateau on Earth. The largest being in Tibet. It seems like everything here is extreme, big lake, big mountains, big landscapes and big smiles on the faces of the people. We are loving our South American Odyssey. by @oomycree

The road that passes the Apu Chimboya mountain sits at an altitude of 4,335 metres or 14,222 feet above sea level at La Raya Pass on the highway between Cusco and Puno, Peru. The Apu Chimboya Peak towers above at 5,489 metres or 18,008 feet. The scenery is stunning in a rugged way, little villages nestled by mountains, llama grazing and a railway line snaking its way through the landscape. This was a corridor used by the Inca between 500 - 600 years ago.

The Church is San Pedro de Cacha built 1810 by local villagers in the town of Raqchi adjacent to the Raqchi archaeological site. The rock is volcanic basalt probably gathered from the nearby ruins. by @oomycree
