Today, I pay tributes to Nigerians at home and across the world on this occasion of our 66th anniversary independence. I also honour the labour and sacrifices of our heroes past, whose courage and vision laid the foundation for our nationhood. Our greatest strength lies in the rich diversity of our peoples, cultures, languages and traditions; when united by a common purpose, this diversity becomes a powerful asset for national progress and shared prosperity.

Our greatest resource is our people, especially our young Nigerians whose creativity, ingenuity and excellence continue to make an impact across the world. From technology and the creative industries to fashion, agriculture, science and enterprise, our youth are demonstrating the limitless potential of Nigeria. Our remarkable entrepreneurial spirit further reflects the resilience, courage and determination of our people.

As we celebrate 66 years of nationhood, let us embrace our diversity. Our population, a gift from Olodumare, is not merely a number but a tremendous human resource capable of transforming Nigeria and contributing meaningfully to Africa and the world. May this anniversary renew our unity, strengthen our hope, and inspire us to articulate and build the Nigeria we know is possible. Happy 66th Independence Anniversary, Nigeria. by @ooniadimulaife

As I sit in quiet reflection during this year’s Olojo festival, I find myself looking back over the past ten years of a journey deeply connected to my ancestors, my heritage and the enduring spiritual consciousness of the Yoruba people.

There are moments when leadership is not expressed through words, ceremonies or public presence, but through silence, prayer and deep communion with the Head. In this moment, I am reminded that the journey of the last decade has never been mine alone. It has been a journey shaped by the sacrifices of those who came before us, by the wisdom inherited through generations, and by the responsibility to preserve, strengthen and transmit a civilization whose story stretches far beyond our own lifetime.

Ten years have passed, but the journey continues. With gratitude to the ancestors; with faith in the future of the Yoruba people; and with a renewed commitment to carry our ancestral legacy forward with dignity, wisdom and purpose. by @ooniadimulaife

The future of our heritage rests in the hands of our young people. If we want Olojo festival to remain meaningful for generations to come, we must ensure that our children and young people understand the stories, values, traditions and civilisation behind the celebration. Technology, creativity and entrepreneurship must become tools for transmitting our heritage rather than forces that distance us from it. I am charting a path to modernity with our young people, harnessing digital technology to preserve, document and bring to life the memories and cultural heritage bequeathed to us by our ancestors. I am empowering them to become storytellers, researchers, filmmakers, designers, entrepreneurs and global ambassadors of African culture, carrying our heritage into the future while preserving its agelong sacredness. by @ooniadimulaife

In deep reflection and communion with my Ancestors during my seclusion, I rekindle my eternal obligation to carry the profound responsibility entrusted to me; a burden placed upon my shoulders not by choice alone, but by legacy, duty, and destiny.

From the sacred soil of Ile-Ife, the cradle of our civilization, I renew my ancestral obligation to preserve our heritage, elevate our people, and build a legacy worthy of those who came before us and those yet unborn. Over the past ten glorious years, I have carried the banner of the Olojo festival as a sacred expression of our ancestral memory, spiritual heritage, and enduring identity as a people.

I honour this remarkable journey with profound gratitude to Olodumare, to our revered ancestors, and to the generations who have preserved the sacred traditions of Ile-Ife and the Yoruba nation. Olojo is more than a festival; it is a living covenant between the past, the present, and the future; a reminder that a people who know where they come from will never lose their sense of purpose.

As we celebrate the 10th year of the renewed Olojo festival, I call upon our people across the world to walk proudly in the strength of our heritage and carry its wisdom into the future. May this milestone mark not merely a decade of celebration, but the beginning of a new chapter of cultural renaissance, sustainable tourism, prosperity, and global economic transformation which is rooted in our culture from Ile-Ife and extending across all the Yoruba kingdoms. by @ooniadimulaife

After days in seclusion, in deep communion with Eledumare and in reverence to the sacred spirits of our ancestors, I emerge renewed in spirit, fortified in faith, and entrusted once again with the prayers of my people and the hopes of generations yet unborn.

In the sacred stillness of Ile-Ife, where the past, the present and the future converge, I have sought the presence of the Almighty and drawn strength from the eternal wisdom of those who walked this sacred earth before us. From this spiritual journey, I emerge not merely as a custodian of tradition, but as a vessel of divine purpose.

As I step forth from seclusion on this sacred day, I invoke the blessings of Eledumare upon all Yoruba people. May divine wisdom illuminate all your hearts; may peace prevail across our communities; may prosperity find its way into the lives of our people; and may unity bind us together as one people, enriched by our diversity and strengthened by our shared heritage. by @ooniadimulaife

As I enter into the sacred period of seclusion, I am reminded that Olójó is not merely a festival; it is a living expression of our ancestral identity, spirituality and collective memory. Seclusion gives us the opportunity to return to the source, to honour the wisdom entrusted to us by those who came before us, and to prepare ourselves to carry that heritage responsibly into the future. As we preserve the sacred tradition of Olójó festival, we must also ensure that our cultural heritage becomes a bridge for meaningful and sustainable tourism; one that welcomes the world without compromising the values, sanctity and authenticity of our traditions. The future of tourism in our nation must therefore be rooted in preservation, readaptation, commerce and through digital transformation. by @ooniadimulaife

I stand proudly as an African man, deeply conscious of the historic moment before us at the launch of the Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemical Public IPO, rightly described as the “People’s IPO.” This is far more than a financial milestone; it is a defining moment in Africa’s journey towards economic self-determination, giving Nigerians and Africans the opportunity to own a piece of this historic chapter and, in doing so, allowing Africans to own Africa and shape its future.

I am immensely proud of Alhaji Aliko Dangote for his extraordinary vision, courage and unwavering dedication to the industrialization of Africa. He has demonstrated that African problems can be met with African enterprise, African capital and African solutions. I am incredibly pleased to be working alongside him as we contribute to reshaping the energy sovereignty of Nigeria and, ultimately, the African continent.

As we celebrate this landmark achievement, we must recognize that the refinery is a powerful beginning, not the end of our journey. We must now work together with government, business, traditional institutions, investors and citizens to rebuild the productive foundations of our economy. We must restore agriculture as a pillar of national prosperity, strengthen and expand our electricity generation and distribution, revitalize manufacturing, develop our infrastructure, invest in technology, and build the industries that will create dignified opportunities for our young people. by @ooniadimulaife
