In this first pic, Gabe cut Paris’s bangs. He didn’t know that you needed a license to cut hair. He felt super bad when I explained it. Anyhow, Paris loved the bangs so much.

Facebook put this as my memory. Surely because it knows I was being reminiscent in my prior post.

Paris Martin does their own hair now, and still rocks whatever. by @opandemonium

When the kids were little I would come home exhausted. A day of working in a high stress environment, dinner to make, play time…bath time…. and by the time it is bed time you are exhausted.

I wanted to read to them but I could barely keep my eyes open. Instead I would snuggle in bed and make up stories. On going narratives custom made to help them understand the world they would one day be entering on their own.

Gabe Martin always wanted to be World Police…making people be nice to each other. He was the hero who taught the bully a lesson, through reason and compassion. We would narrate each story together, creating our own twists and turns.

He is still creative, wise, and confident.

Paris Martin ‘s ongoing chronicle was The Silly Little Fox. He would get up to the silliest of lessons. Making mistakes because he was so smart, so curious, and just wanted to understand the world.

Just like Paris, who amazes me everyday.

I miss those days when the lessons were really simple. Be kind. Be thoughtful. Be curious. Turn inward and be accountable. Love yourself and others.

Anyhow - I painted this. by @opandemonium
