Are you in or are you out? When you apply for Check26, you do so via Embl (@openembl) where you have the option to activate Embl’s social component. Share your Porsche story with Checkeditout spectators or remain private, the choice is yours. Embl is now shipping requested QR codes to registrants.

Checkeditout applications are not open forever. Our biggest FAQ: ‘Is there room for me to register my Porsche?’ The answer is yes. Check26 is on pace to be the largest Checkeditout to date. And we have plenty of Fulton Market real estate to compliment with your Porsche.

Every car has a story. Here’s Scott’s and his 1987 Porsche 911.

“In early 2021 I acquired my father’s Guards Red 1986 944. It sat down in Florida during the pandemic and when finally started up again after an 18 month hibernation, the head gasket was shot. He was tired of dealing with maintenance on the car and I had it shipped to me in Chicago. While searching for parts online, I realized that the cost of another childhood dream car (air cooled 911) was growing at an exponential rate. Fearing that just like my beloved 1967 Sting Ray, I would soon be priced out of the market, I decided I would try to find a late 80s Carrera…” —Scott N. (@snacheman)

The Off The Map book tour continues Sunday, July 12, 9 a.m. to noon, at Porsche Service Center Naperville. The first batch of Embl QR codes are hitting the mail next week.

We’re doing something a little different for @checkeditout.io and moving to static clings for your car. No more temporary stickers or paper signs taped to windows.

Each QR code connects spectators directly to the story behind the car, from ownership history and specs to photos, events, and everything in between.

Low-mile cars are nice, but they lack narrative weight. “Built in ‘86 and driven only 1,600 miles a year” isn’t a story; it’s a statement. Stories live in scars. Motive Archive’s ’86 Keen Safari 911 is covered in stories. So is Chicago-based Puerto Rican street artist @jcrivera’s iconic character, “The Bear Champ.”

The car was a 48,000-mile blank page when Leh Keen got his hands on it in 2016 with orders to transform into the second ever Keen Safari 911. Since then, it’s been on two off-road-focused Keen Safari rallies, multiple @overcrestproductions rallies, numerous cross-country adventures, and scored podium finishes at @fat.international Ice Race, etc. All this adventure adds up to nearly 100,000 miles since the Safari transformation a decade ago. Nearly 8,500 miles per year more than in its pampered past life. Is it a German sports car or an American novel? Add to that, it is a Checkeditout Original Seventy Porsche. The Bear Champ’s scars reflect Rivera’s struggle to make it in the art world in his formative years—and the struggles of people everywhere.
