Now more than ever, there is a deep call for our communities to pour into mothers. To nourish the women who nourish everyone. To hold the ones who are so often expected to hold it all.

And what we are witnessing within Mothers of the Mycelium is something even more beautiful:

Mothers pouring into mothers.
Cup to cup.
Heart to heart.
Medicine to medicine.

Remembering that none of us were ever meant to mother alone. That healing does not only happen individually it moves through the village, through sisterhood, through the hands willing to hold and be held.

Because we know the ancient truth:

It takes a village.

@sabriyasimon is hosting a workshop series called “Becoming the Ritual, Living in Ceremony” and @aboutnatlife facilitated the segment called “The Healing Practice of Altar Art— Honoring Our Ancestors Through Collage Making”

When my girl @piscaprio tagged me, I just KNEW I needed it. IYKYK how much I love altar building and it’s been so long so this was such a beautifullllll reintegration of that for me.

The workshop came with a gorgeous collage kit, 3 hours of space held for practice & so much wisdom shared.

19 years since Brenda Ann + almost 4 years since Donna Jo made it to the other side and became my guardian angels ❤️ I felt them with me as I listened to Oldies and put this piece together.

I am because they were.

Towards the end, I found this quote that reminded me of the power of a lil interracial teenage love.

“Where there is love, the impossible is made possible”

Saw a post that said
“After giving birth, it takes a woman six months for her internal wounds to heal, 12 months for physical recovery, 2 years for hormonal balance, and up to 5 years to rediscover her identity. Relationships often struggle during this period due to a lack of understanding. Be kind and patient with new moms; they’re facing more challenges than it may seem.”

I think about how many relationships end before babies turn 2 years old & it’s really the most saddening thing in our culture today. There is never a time more confusing, life altering and challenging to navigate than those years after giving birth. Women can be difficult to deal with in general (and so can men) but I see so many people just walking away when it’s time to walk through the postpartum fire. Because sometimes that’s the easier thing to do. Please trust me when I say— if you can make it out alive, together, the fire purifies. THAT is what we do not understand.

And of course, never any shade to those who decided that it was in everyone’s best interest to walk away. Sometimes the person you become is no longer a match for the relationships you had before you entered the portal. And that’s okay too.

3 things to remember

1. It is natural to miss who you were while you welcome who you are becoming. Grieve, have gratitude and give grace in all the moments in between. You can make space for mourning your old body, rhythms, freedom, or identity—while also deeply loving your baby and openly adjusting to the newness of motherhood. Two truths can exist at once. Postpartum is a time for integration.

2. Not knowing what you need doesn’t mean you need nothing. Our brains are calculating so much during this time. I never feel more uncertain, unclear or incapable of delegating tasks than when I have just given birth.. When your body and mind are focused on healing and caregiving, clarity often comes after care — not before it. So when they ask what you need, you ask them “What feels good for you to offer right now, in this moment?

3. It’s okay to just be okay… Not every season feels joyful or heavy. Some feel simply… okay.” And that’s allowed. Neutral is a resting place, not a problem. Lean into the silence. that’s when you get to really LISTEN. Reassure your self & your people that nothing is “wrong” when you don’t feel like talking, laughing or crying.

You just did a big thing and you’re amazing, mama.

Another Troost Gem! The owners of @oddly are good family friends and I would say I’m biased but honestly IYKYK that the quality they are serving is truly just hard to come by.
