We tracked down the perfect material to wrap the skylight curbs from a local salvage yard— aged, very reclaimed, old growth tongue and groove redwood lumber that was BEAT up. Look what a little (aka a LOT) of sanding can do!!! by @operationeichler

Puzzle-piecing open the finished drywall, above the finished tile floor and below the finished marble sink, just to move plumbing over an inch. We better get compliments on these waste lines in the powder bathroom !! by @operationeichler

This pine ceiling is our biggest regret. We wish we’d paused construction to make time to source old growth redwood t&g. We felt rushed by the teams involved, and let this happen. At the time, we were told it could be stained to match. As we’ve learned, there’s nothing uglier than trying to make pine look like old growth redwood. We’re considering painting it a color and calling it out, but the ceiling boards extend through a window and become eaves, true to eichler’s original building style. The eaves off this area, if painted, would not match the rest of the home…. It’s a tricky spot. Sharing because, it’s not our first regret and I know it won’t be our last, but we have learned the hard way to push the pause button when we feel stuck. We’re the ones who have to live in this house once it’s done, after all. by @operationeichler

Usually I’d be losing sleep over having to install “nasty” spray foam insulation just to meet my energy calcs, but tonight I can rest easy knowing that this product by @carlislesficanada is green guard gold certified! It’s the best we could do given our situation. Might not be @havelock_wool 🐑 but I’m at peace with this install. by @operationeichler

We’re getting somewhere. And that is to a place of no man’s land where there are multiple holds on our rough-in inspection. At least we’ve made lots of progress since last Easter 2025 when the slab was just being poured! by @operationeichler
