We’re starting to use the words community leaders instead of volunteers.

Not because it sounds wrong, but because it feels more true.

The people who show up to help at OHH are part of the community. They help carry the tables, sort food, welcome people, translate, share ideas, clean up, and make the space feel less transactional.

That’s leadership.

You don’t need a title. You don’t need experience. You don’t need to be perfect at this.

Despite the threat of rain, community leaders showed up for their community.

The rain doesn't stop hunger.

Each month, we see new faces and more people in need.

We're so thankful for everyone willing to share their time, resources, and funds to help others.

This is what community is about. It's not about survival of the fittest. It's about making sure no one is left behind. That no one goes without a meal or clothes on their back.

Today is our Grocery Pop Up at @sarvodayafarms we have a great turn out but we really could use more food as the need is increasing!!

If you can consider dropping off grocery items as the farm for our next distribution you will be feeding over 30 families in need who are experiencing food insecurity.

We cannot do this work without you!!! by @operationhealthyhearts

Some of you ask for ways you can volunteer without it being on the weekends or etc, and one easy way is learning to coupon and helping us gather shampoos and deodorants and stuff like that too!!

Lastly, your girl is a full time mom, college student and community organizer and your help actually going to the store and buying and bringing is life saving…. For all of us 😜 by @operationhealthyhearts

It was another successful Community Swap with 28 participants! I loved seeing everyone’s haul today!

Folks made keychains inside with @greatplasticsomeone and mended clothing with @a.laurabrody ❤️

The Swap is one of my favorite events! 🥹

Join us at one of our monthly mutual aid pop ups or come down for a SWAP don’t SHOP event!

The first two weeks of each month we’re stationed at Sarvodaya Farms under their @pomonafreefarmstand , then the 2nd Sunday of the month we’re @underdogbookstore

(The SWAP is this weekend @underdogbookstore also!!)

PS:
I can’t even tell you how many hours I’ve spent at the grocery stores locally buying hundreds of dollars of food every weekend since 2012. Wealth distribution + Community + Collaboration = Survival 😊 by @operationhealthyhearts

Operation Healthy Hearts is gathering anonymous feedback about accessibility, neuroinclusion, disability access, and barriers people may experience at food distributions and community events.

The survey takes about 2–3 minutes and is available in English and Spanish. You do not need a diagnosis to participate.

Our community and the Earth truly thrives when we care for one another & practice shared responsibility! We are so grateful to all of our community and neighbors who continue to share their support in building this offering to our community.

Thank you to all those who volunteered the day before to package goods, to those who joined us in harvesting from our garden in the heat, who dropped off fruits from their trees, packaged dried herbs, came in early to help us set up and clean up, who helped us interact and distribute supplies, and Dani who filmed & edited our video, those who made our community feel safe and seen and to all those who took what they needed and left what they can. Thank you.

These monthly pop-ups are hosted by @UnderdogBookstore and @OperationHealthyHearts, and made possible thanks to the generous donations of our community members.

We offer free groceries, toiletries, baby items and more for anyone in need, no questions asked, while supplies last.
