6 years ago, almost to the day, this boat was nothing but a drawing for an engineering project and a fever dream. Today, much to my surprise, it flew down the Neuse River and didn’t even sink. It may seem like just a guy who built a boat, but it’s so much more than that. It signifies that I now have the time, the money and the skills necessary to actually accomplish my dreams. I’ve spent so much time trying to get here and this is proof to myself that I’ve made it. I’m here.

Dad,

I’d give my life to spend just one afternoon with you fishing on here. I came to tears so many times while I built this because I know if you were still here you’d be right there in the shop working with me. So many times I went to call you, or reached for a tool you’d be handing me and each time it reminded me that you’re with the man upstairs. Christmas Day will be a year since I lost you and even though everyone says time heals all, I’ve yet to see that happen. It hurts more and more everyday. It hurts when I remember and it hurts when I forget. Thank you for everything you did for me. Thank you for teaching me to be the man I am. I miss you so much. I hope you’re proud of the man I’ve become. I hope you’re proud of the things I’ve achieved. I hope you’ll forgive me for any bad I’ve done. Until I see you again. I love you. by @opticplasma
