AVENIDA PIXEL by Invasion Lab

Conceived as a collective, “Invasion lab.” we are a collaborative group of friends that create things that we love. This time, we decided to create an intervention on the walls and spaces of Bogota City in Colombia. Inspired by the idea of “Invade the city,” we projected classic icons of our childhood like Space Invaders and Psychedelic Squirrels (the Banner & Flappy cartoon), running over the city walls. We also displayed iconic symbols that expres opposition to violence and social problems, these icons were created by renowned graffiti Colombian artist “JuegaSiempre” (PlayAlways).

We love the idea to create Audiovisual pieces to free our souls and have fun. Just because we like ! taken in Bogotá, Colombia by @optikalinklab

Unveil ‘brings the Eurocultured Street Culture Project to a spectacular conclusion. During 2010 and 2011, the Eurocultured Project by the EU Culture Programme has included several festivals and workshops and various new works have been created by local teenagers in Finland, the United Kingdom, Slovakia and Romania. In May 2011, a large Eurocultured Street Culture Festival was held in Turku as a part of the Capital of Culture year programme.

The Video Mapping piece “Unveil” brought the rich shapes of the Art Nouveau building to life with lumens, colours and a variety of moving patterns and 3D figures. Digital technology and art were used to create strong visual and optical illusions and their impact was emphasised with electronic music. This event was free of charge. This piece tells a story about the Latin American people, through the struggle against so many different oppressors in history. Above all this is a celebration of life, resistance and shows that multi-culturalism works.
