Back here again after a week off for summer! This semester is going to be dense with classes, patient care, and boards prep. My main goal this semester is to be more efficient with my charting and get better with fundus exams. So so excited for this semester and to learn more about the eyes👀 by @optowithcaroline

And just like that, summer semester of 3rd year is over! This has been a jam packed summer full of learning opportunities with some silly moments sprinkled in. I saw so many types of cases including glaucoma, nutritional optic neuropathy, corneal transplant, diplopia, diabetic retinopathy, HTN crisis/retinopathy, CN6 palsy, KC, scleral lens, pathological myopia (just to name a few). I feel like this summer really shifted my perspective. I’m doing the thing that younger me could only dream of! My biggest takeaway from this semester is to always reflect on each case and everything’s a learning moment. I had a lot of fun working with my classmates and attendings. Kinda nervous for the rest of third year and figuring out a new schedule with boards prep. But I know that I learned so much this summer and I am excited to see what’s next🤓

Summer semester of OD3 is almost over! Not a lot of pictures were taken because clinic was always busy. I learned a lot of new skills and also giggled a lot with new friends. 🫶🏼 These are just some silly snapshots of what a day-to-day looks like featuring my eye with the Optos. (I’m officially a third year! I’m so proud of myself for getting this far. Some of my favorite classes was contacts lens lab and ocular pathology. I really enjoyed spring semester because what we’re learning could be directly applied to patient care. Seeing my name on the charts is such a surreal moment! My biggest lesson I’ve learned is that tables and quizzing myself is the best way to go. I feel like I’m always trying a different way to study LOL. Proud of us!!) 💛 by @optowithcaroline

mid semester opto dump!!

(One of the professors asked if our heads are hanging above water. And I think about that a lot, this semester has really been hard since we’re balancing patient care and our classes. I love seeing patients - it’s a lot of fun! But I think something I’m having such a hard time with is time management and being more efficient. Mini proud moment was when one of my patients asked if I can see her husband later bc she liked me a lot. Anyway, I’m trying my best and that’s all that matters. one semester done!! 🫶🏼 This semester was so challenging esp with time management. Me and google calendar🤞 I’ve learned so much in just these few months and I’m so proud! One thing for sure I’m going to change is to start early even if it’s just a little. I was so overwhelmed with practicing my skills and also keeping up with lecture material. One thing I’m really proud of myself is staying calm during the clinic skills exams (they were rlly scary). Special thank you to all my new friends! We got this 🤍 by @optowithcaroline

Hi friends!! This is belated but we finished the second round of lecture exams + final lab exams. It was an emotional roller coaster full of long days at school. I got dilated 5x just last week alone ☹️ But I rlly enjoy what I’m learning so far! Me and my friends make the craziest mnemonics (hehe). One thing I learned from this round is that flashcards are really that girl 🫶🏼 I can’t stray away. We did another vision screening right before our exam week and it reminded me of why I’m doing this in the first place. We’re in the final stretch before lecture finals ! ⭐️ we got this by @optowithcaroline
