Beyond the assignment.

When he's not running Orange Photography, our co-founder Jack has spent more than a decade on a personal documentary project: portraits and interviews with everyday people about how meditation and mindfulness shape their work, families and lives. It's called Beyond the Cushion.

Next week he heads to Asia for a month, starting in Bhutan, where 108 fifteen-meter monuments will be completed in a single day, then on to Cambodia, Vietnam and Thailand.

Follow the project at @beyondthecushion, and read the full story on our blog (link in bio).

Our team is here as usual for your upcoming events while he's away.

Just spent 5 days in a jaw-droppingly gorgeous spot! 🌅 With a lake, river, and views that could make a postcard jealous, it was pure summer bliss. Who knew peace could be so picturesque? While everyone else is busy crowding the Grand Tetons, I’m over here reveling in my own little secret paradise! 🌲✨ This part of the Wind Range in Wyoming is bursting with adventure—hello, scenic trails and crystal-clear waters! Adventure's ringing my doorbell, and I'm ready to grab my gear and dive in! 🌄🚣‍♂️

Now that the World Cup is over, we've had a blast shooting all over North America during the whole tournament. While we can't post any photos from in stadium, here's some shots from the various events we covered. Personally we were most excited about the @USWNT players as we've been fans of them since the 1996 Atlanta @Olympics which started a huge run of domination. @MiaHamm was the striker on that team and the 99ers and it was fun to see pinball enthusiast/Ted Lasso as well. Having supported Manchester United and Juventus it was cool to photograph @alessandrodelpiero several times at events and @philipneville18 - only with Roy Keane would've done some events, but anyone who knows him knows he would not be down with that 😂 by @orangephoto

We've had a blast covering FIFA World Cup events so far and although our own countries are out, it's been a thrilling ride! Having been a huge fan of the World Cup (both the mens and womens) it's been a joy to cover events and be at stadiums across North America. While now it's down to the final four we're still working events around the games through the final and of course watching the matches with other fans. While we can't share shots from all of the events here's a few featuring some greats we grew up watching including the great @USWNT legend @miahamm (!!!!) and @alessandrodelpiero (loved him for Juventus and Italy). It's been a fun ride so far and having now shot at a World Cup, we've photographed all of the big three - Olympics, Super Bowl and now, World Cup! Excited to be shooting at the Women's World Cup next year in Brazil as well! #futbol #FIFAWC26 #WorldCup by @orangephoto

What does sustainability look like in the photography world?

For Orange Photography, it started with a simple but powerful shift: going digital before it was standard, and helping reduce the chemical waste tied to traditional film processing.

Since 2001, @orangephoto has continued building on that commitment through green business practices, community giving, and supporting local businesses with impactful visual storytelling.

It’s a reminder that sustainability isn’t one-size-fits-all. Every industry has opportunities to do better.

We had a sort of reunion with so many Orange Photography alumni at Stripe Sessions this week! Our own team of six covered the conference alongside many friends and former team members. It reminded us of how our connected our events community is here and how we all support each other and keep relationships going! #eventprofs #eventphotographers by @orangephoto

About 90 mins outside of Las Vega's is a little disperse camping spot know as steward's point. I made it my base station (Jan 2025!) as I couldn't get a campsite in Valley of the Fire State Park. Well, it turn out mighty fine location for my drone shots. Since I got in the late evening, I didn't get the chance to scout for a more scenic campsite but I am not complaining!

It's been about 5 days ago since I returned from my two month tour of the american southwest. The usual routine of doing alot of 'productive' things have taken over and in the evenings, I take a break from being productive to look over the photos from the trip. I haven't had much contemplation time these days but the trip did provide enough unproductive time to narrow the focus of life moving forward. photography will become a hobby again next year was one resolve to create more room for big picture stitching. Meanwhile, my first stop on this trip was Moab, the adventure capital city. I attempted a trial run in the backcountry of moab and failed to my delight. when everything is empty there is nothing to achieve.

So i got a bit lucky with the sunset at long dong silver spire in Hanksville, UT. Not too far off the highway and pretty close to Capitol Reef National park as well if you're in the area. I almost missed the landmark because I stopped at the first spire i saw and it turn out that it was just a teaser spire. Nothing like a little whiskey to add to the confusion.

Last week, in partnership with @thewomensbuilding, our fabulous @firstexposures mentees worked side-by-side with their mentors to bring smiles to over 250 families, partners, and pets at Envision, our annual free community portrait event!

“Collaborating with First Exposures for their Envision Portrait Day is incredibly special to me because it gives our community the chance to feel seen and recognized. Offering free portraits is such a beautiful and powerful way to honor people’s stories, make families smile, and provide access to something personal and memorable.” - Lily, Family Reunification Program Manager at The Women’s Building.

If you would like to help us reach more families next year, click the link 🔗 in the bio to donate!

A special shout-out and thank you to our supporters who helped make this event possible for our community this holiday season:
