My main contribution to the "Rogue Francisco" collab at @brickingbavaria 2025, a collaborative LEGO layout by @roguebricks_lug set in San Francisco during the 60s and 70s.

I built an homage to the Shell Building, a Golden Age skyscraper from 1929 in a mixture of neo-gothic and art déco, designed by George Kelham, who shaped many a significant building in the Bay Area. It was built for the US subsidiary of Royal Dutch Shell, who used it as their headquarters up until the 60s.

It is of course ultimately a minifig interpretation of the building on a 32-baseplate, with all the compromises regarding proportions and general dimensions this comes with. But overall I tried to stay close to the design elements of the original. Colour-wise, I chose white for the terracotta and sand blue for the steel elements.

Most of the windows are blacked out, but the penultimate floor as well as the side stores on the street level are lit and furnished. The lobby is also lit and can be looked into through a hole in the back (since I was placed right at the border anyway). While the lobby is based on historical and contemporary photos, the rest of the interiors were improvised.

On one of the balconies you can also find Scorpio with his rifle, but "Dirty" Harry Callahan is already on his trail.

My 1:225 LEGO model of the Villa Esche in Chemnitz, Germany, continuing my series of early modernist buildings in this year's European Capital of Culture. Designed in 1902 by Belgian designer Henry van de Velde for textile industrialist Herbert Eugen Esche in a streamlined Art Nouveau, it marks the first residential building by van de Velde in Germany and arguably the inception of 20th century architecture in Chemnitz. Today it serves as a museum and event location.

As you can see I used bright light orange for the building's signature ochre paint, but similar to the previous model I also used yellow for parts that haven't been plastered with grooves and thus appear lighter. The model is based on the 2001 restoration, which increased the size of the roof skylight. This allows for a removable roof to get a view into the central hall with its characteristic interior stained glass skylight (realized with a transparent sticker), which can also be removed to view right down to the ground floor.

The model uses two Gobricks pieces since LEGO doesn't make the 2x6 wedge plates in bright light orange yet. There is an easy LEGO-only solution for that (as can be seen in the building instructions on @rebrickable ), but the 2x6 wedges are just the perfect shape.

This is a LEGO homage to Interstellar, built for a recent Christopher Nolan contest by @roguebricks_lug It is one of my favourites of his films and I've wanted to build something from it for a long time, so I built various little scenes concentrating on humanity's search for a new home.

I originally composed this as a triptych with Cooper's farm and Edmunds's planet framing the Endurance, which is how I put it up on Flickr. But Instagram really doesn't like all too wide image formats, so I also added Miller's planet for a more regular square format. I still think the original layout is a more coherent composition, but it's also nice having to try out different presentations for different platforms and it gave me the chance to build one more scene, including a tiny little TARS and a ~1:175 Ranger that turned out really nice.

My LEGO homage to the Disney animated series #talespin is up for sale on @creations4charity. You can buy the complete model and the money will be used to buy LEGO sets for underprivileged children. It shows the Sea Duck, Baloo's trusty seaplane, flying over the "Higher for Hire" cargo business. The model also comes with a printed instruction booklet for the full building experience.

I had the honour of working together with Nico Bestanpouri from @berliner_steinkultur on the event set for #steinewahn2026. Built at the end of the 19th century in neogothic style, the Oberbaum Bridge across the Spree connects the districts Kreuzberg and Friedrichshain and became a symbol for the separation and later reunification of Berlin.

At #steinewahn2026 they had a build collab asking us to design upscaled 2x4 bricks to our liking. I couldn't help but bring an homage to the robots from Christopher Nolan's Interstellar, so let me introduce you to BRIK.

For the last week of Rogue Olympics I built a little model of Mies van der Rohe's Farnsworth House. I had so much fun with that little guy that I decided to also do the Neue Nationalgalerie in Berlin in a similar style. I've long wanted to do a model of that anyway and the two complement each other rather nicely. However, they're not actually at the same scale, with the Farnsworth House model being almost twice as large as it should be.

My contributions to the 2026 Rogue Olympics, a build contest by @roguebricks_lug over 8 weeks, with each week featuring a new topic and a part limit of just 101 pieces. This year I participated in 5 rounds:

2 - Blau / Blue: After some pondering I built a little lighthouse scene with the deep blue ocean. I wanted to do something with that little CMF ship for quite a while.

3 - Von Oben / From Above: One of my first thoughts was a lone person or vehicle traversing a vast landscape as seen from above, so I built a lonesome rover driving across the moon.

4 - Entwurf / Draft: I built Frank Lloyd Wright at his drafting table working on Taliesin, his estate in Spring Green, Wisconsin, which he extended and rebuilt repeatedly over decades.

6 - Funke / Spark: I built a bunch of minifigures working together on a fiery task, because what's the point of all these minifigures if they don't help you in your daily life?

8 - Transparent: I thought of buildings with a lot of glass and built a model of Mies van der Rohe's Farnsworth House, an icon of minimalism and transparent living.

This year I hardly ever had a clear plan what to build and often ended up hacking something together over the weekend, but I'm happy that I did and I'm overall quite satisfied with how it turned out.

In late February a few people from @roguebricks_lug went to phaenoBricks in Wolfsburg and we decided to rearrange our respective modules from the "Rogue Francisco" collab into a small spin-off. While it of course can't keep up with the grandeur of the original collab, the modularity still allowed for a coherent layout that offered new perspectives on some of the modules. A few impressions from our "Rogue Francisco" collab at Bricking Bavaria 2025 in Friedrichshafen. This time our journey took us to San Francisco in the 60s and 70s, capturing the vibrant atmosphere of the "City by the Bay", from massive eye-catchers like the Golden Gate Bridge, Transamerica Pyramid or Alcatraz, over lively districts like Haight-Ashbury and Chinatown, to iconic scenes from classics like "Bullitt" and "Vertigo", all connected by myriads of vintage cars and a working cable car.

These are only some (more or less) immersive photos I took and it is of course hard to do the entire layout with all its details built by 30 contributors justice in these few shots, but hopefully they at least get the feeling across. This is a custom-built trophy for the winners of the Large category in the #marchitecture2026 LEGO build contest. It shows the top of the American Radiator Building in New York City, USA at about 1:175. Built over 100 years ago in a mixture of Neo-Gothic and Art Déco, it is another striking example for the splendour of early 20th century skyscrapers.

This is a custom-built trophy for the digital entries in the #marchitecture2026 LEGO build contest. It shows the Coit Tower in San Francisco, USA at around 1:400. Built in 1933 from money bequeathed by the late Lillie Hitchcock Coit in an effort to beautify the city, the building's interior is adorned with murals by contemporary artists in the style of American Social Realism.
