You love them. You stream them on repeat. But does the money actually reach them?

Streaming is great for discovering music, but it pays artists very little per play, often months later. If you want to really support someone, go one step further.

7 ways that actually pay artists:
1. Go to their shows - live is one of their biggest income sources
2. Buy merch directly - one T-shirt beats thousands of streams
3. Buy the music, donโ€™t just stream it
4. Pay per play on Orbit - no pool, the artist is paid the moment you press play
5. Share it properly - and tag them, they see it
6. Follow where they post - early listeners help releases get noticed
7. Tell them it matters - a comment can be the reason they keep going

Stream to discover. Then go further. On Orbit, every play pays the artist directly. ๐Ÿ’œ

Introducing the Orbit Journal. ๐Ÿ“–

Straight talk about the music business and the people making it.

We're launching a space for the conversations the industry usually keeps quiet. No jargon, no spin. Just honest answers and real stories.

What you'll find:

๐Ÿ“Š For artists: how streaming money actually works. Starting with the question everyone asks: how much does Spotify really pay per stream? (Spoiler: not much, and nothing under 1,000 streams a year.)

๐Ÿ’ฟ For fans: the real difference between renting your music and owning it.

๐ŸŽค Artist spotlights: the stories behind the creators on Orbit. First up: theSOS, the self-made Kenyan gospel reggae artist and host of our Kenyan Creators channel.

This is where we show our work - why Orbit exists, and why paying artists directly from the first play matters.

First articles are live now. ๐Ÿ‘‡

New single out now. ๐ŸŽง

"Pick Up" by @therealanjeuno is live on the Kenyan Creators channel.

Kenyan-born rapper and producer, and a fresh face in Africa's hip-hop scene - blending hip-hop, RnB and afro influences into a sound that's both reflective and aspirational.

Here's the difference: on Orbit you don't just stream it, you own it. "Pick Up" comes as the "Online" edition - own the release for streaming in the app, for โ‚ฌ0.99. And streaming isn't rent: every paid stream is credited toward the price. Reach it, and the edition is yours. ๐Ÿ’œ

Every play counts. Every play pays the artist directly.

Meet the voices behind Kenyan Creators. ๐Ÿ’œ

Nairobi is where it started - Orbit's first chapter, hosted on the ground in Kenya by theSOS. Rooted in reggae and the sound systems that carry it, the channel gathers local artists and puts their music on-chain as collectible releases. The blueprint for every chapter that followed.

Now their work lives on Orbit - and you can own it, not just stream it.

๐ŸŽค theSOS
Gospel reggae producer and founder of Skika Film & Music. Operator of Orbit's first Kenyan channel, and the host of the room where the first chapter started.

๐ŸŽค Janet Sospeter
A voice rooted in the sound and spirit of Kenyan music, now part of the channel shaping the country's creative future.

๐ŸŽค Anje Uno
Kenyan-born rapper and producer, a fresh face in Africa's hip-hop scene - blending hip-hop, RnB and afro influences into a sound that's both reflective and aspirational.

Every release. Every play. Paid directly to the artist. Owned by the fans who back them - from โ‚ฌ0.99.

Build your own platform. ๐Ÿš€

Orbit isn't just a place to stream - it's a place to build. Anyone can open their own channel and run a destination for the music, film, art and culture they believe in.

Here's how it works:

1๏ธโƒฃ Open your channel - your name, your look, your rules.
2๏ธโƒฃ Curate your catalogue - the creators, artists and work you stand behind.
3๏ธโƒฃ Grow your audience - fans buy direct, artists get paid on the spot.

No middlemen. No pools. No waiting months for payouts. Just your channel, your culture, your audience.

Whether you're a label, a collective, a curator or a scene with taste - this is your space to build something that's actually yours.

Kenyan Creators is now on Orbit. ๐ŸŒ

A dedicated channel for Kenya's boldest voices in music, film and culture - and a new way for them to build, be seen, and get paid.

Here's what that means:

๐Ÿค Community
A home for Kenya's creative scene in one place. Curated by the people who shape the culture, not an algorithm. Artists, fans and collaborators in the same orbit.

๐Ÿ‘€ Visibility
Your work in front of an audience that's here to discover and support it. No getting lost in an endless feed - just a space built to put Kenyan creators forward.

๐Ÿ’ธ Direct payment
Get paid the second someone presses play. Straight to the creator, not months later out of a pool. Own your work, earn from it directly.

This is what a channel makes possible. Kenya is the first chapter - and it's just getting started.

Nairobi showed us what happens when creators get in the same room.

On 22 August, we brought together voices from music, film and interactive worlds for the first Orbit Creators Night in Nairobi, Kenya.

Kenyan Creators is where Orbit started. The first chapter. The first channel.

Rooted in Nairobi and hosted on the ground in Kenya by @thesosmusic, the chapter brings together local artists and their music - creating a blueprint for every chapter that followed.

This night was about the people behind that culture.

The people.
The energy.
The connections.

Thank you to everyone who showed up, shared their work and helped make the room what it was. ๐Ÿ’œ

Creators Night ยท Nairobi ๐ŸŒ

Music. Film. Interactive worlds. One night for the people shaping culture - and for a new way creators get paid for their work.

The way creators get paid is changing. Orbit is building a direct revenue layer that sits alongside the platforms you already use - it doesn't replace them.

You keep your masters, keep releasing everywhere, and get paid directly when fans stream or collect your work. No middleman. No crypto knowledge required - fans pay by card.

On the ground in Nairobi, Skika Film & Music (Moses Sospeter - theSOS) leads the first Kenyan channel on Orbit. Gospel reggae producer, filmmaker, first mover.

Your work. Your audience. Your revenue.
