james baldwin talks about how books taught him that his pain was not his alone.

scribe wonders what that might look like online. can messages shared on a web page move like ink on paper does?

read the heartfelt responses to see for urself, and even write ur own. link is in bio.

vulnerability is a wonderful thing, maria. now, it may be scary. but, perhaps, without it, we can't experience true intimacy at all. i think that's a little scarier, no?

hollywood actress katharine hepburn stars as sylvester in sylvia scarlett (1935). in this flirty snippet, he jokes about growing a mustache while maudie teases and draws one on him, shortly before stealing a kiss. filmed under the hays code, this moment of gender play and queer flirtation slipped past hollywood’s censors and still feels wildly courageous today.

i always say “im tired”. i think in metaphors. i recently thought of a metaphor to explain why i often feel that tired. life is a tide, and it’s as if i’m often swimming against it, somehow. when reading laws of motion, it felt like nikki could hear this metaphor starting to come together in my mind, and painted it in a language i innately understood, somehow. i’ll be thinking about this one for a long time. adding onto the brushstrokes.

dearly missed.
