Sick and contagious, I'm cursed to miss tonight's final show from @dielikegentlemen. Sending some thunderous virtual applause and a personal thank you, Gentlemen. Here's to the music and everyone it reached.

Friday is among us, time for the weekly unload of 300+ upcoming dark shows across the region chronicled on Oregon Doom for all your Autumn and Winter planning needs. Sunday will see a more focused "week ahead" posting. One can always avoid the mire of social media and peruse the Oregon Doom website at any time.

For the book lovers out there, Marlon James’s The Disappearers is something else. Had the good fortune to hear him and Jeff VanderMeer speak at Powell’s last night, then spent most of what should have been slumber engrossed in the story. With The Church, Joy Division, Mission of Burma, Depeche Mode, Soundgarden, and Nirvana woven into its masterful pages, the musical touchstones are a perfect flourish to a brilliant story. by @oregondoom

PORTLAND, OR - NO FUN BAR
We are heading your way to play our first ever PDX show in October!
@nofunportland

As a new band, we’ve been working away to bring our Cascadian psychedelic metal to your town.
We are bringing two killer WA bands with us, Heldscalla and Constance Tomb.

@heldscalla_band is a massive sounding doom band who recently supported Pallbearer on their Seattle tour stop.

@constance_tomb features Tony Reed of Mos Generator and Pentagram, showcasing the Goth rock side of Mr. Reed’s musical outlets.

Insomnia is a funny thing. Annoying usually, but also a great time to get things done and soak in some music. With hours of slumber missing last night, I filled them in with some coding to streamline a little bit of the bridge between Oregon Doom the website and Instagram the soul-sucking and parasitic social media platform that I admittedly give way too much energy to. It's a continuous battle of how hard it is to effectively communicate 100s of shows across an entire region in a succinct way on this forsaken attention-maxxing platform, but here we are 🤷🏻.

Complaints aside, this isn't awful for something that doesn't need to be done by hand. It loses a little something in that, but I'll fill in that gap over time. The micro-flyers are awesome, regionalization will hopefully make it a little easier for folks, and damn it's easy to see how amazing the region's darker music offerings are. Hope this gets a few extra folks through the doors at future shows 🔥 by @oregondoom
