Here's a little info on IHSA! 💛

IHSA enables colleigate teams to compete without riders needing to provide horses of their own! Each show allows for more points per team and rider, and each class is based on rider skill!

Regular season runs through March!

Now that our teams are finalized, it's time to gear up for show season! The year is already off to a great start and we have an exciting season ahead!

On November 21-22nd, we will be hosting our first Hunt Seat IHSA show and we are in need of horses to help make this event possible!

The show will be held in Eugene, OR at the Oregon Horse Center Prairie Complex.

This is a jumping and flat competition and we will need horses that are capable of jumping from 18''-2'3 fences.

As the horse donor, you get a say in the usage of your horse. What level rider you want to ride your horse, how many classes they go in, and any height/weight restrictions. Stalls will be provided!

Each day of the show there will be a horse of the show award and prize given out to that horse.

We appreciate any interest as these horses make the shows affordable for our collegiate riders!

Oregon Equestrian is looking for Huntseat, Dressage, and Western riders, as well as equine enthusiasts looking to compete!

University of Oregon students interested in the team can fill out the tryout form on our tryout post and dm us for more details!
We will be tabling at campus events to talk in person so check out our previous schedule post for information on those!

Our team is gearing up for a new season! 🐴
Here are the events to look out for in the coming month!

💚 9/27: We're hosting a table at the annual Flock Party! Come talk to us to get more info about the team or just to introduce yourself! We'll see you for the duration of the event 11am-1pm at the EMU.

💛 9/30: If you can't make it then, we'll also have a table at Club Sports! Come find us from 3pm-5pm on the EMU Green.

💚 10/2: New Members! Come meet us in EMU 104 to get info about the team and to show your interest! The meeting will be from 6pm-7pm.

💛 10/3: Get ready for team tryouts! From 10am-12pm at the Oregon Horse Center. Carpool will be provided! Remember to fill out the tryout form linked on our post!

💚 10/4: All admitted members join us for the required paperwork meeting from 5pm-6pm in EMU 104!

We look forward to seeing everyone!

Here come tryouts for the upcoming 26-27 season!
On Saturday, October 3rd, our team will be hosting tryouts at 10am at the Oregon Horse Center! Experience isn't required and all are welcome to tryout!
Our team's main goal is to support one another and cheer each other on! See you all there! 💚💛

We also have a new Dressage team this year! More info to come! An option will be included in the form for those interested.

Hello! My name is Claire and I’m a fourth year human physiology major with a minor in food studies! I started riding when I was 11 in the jumpers, and since I’ve found my love for western riding. My favorite part of the team is making such great friends with everyone; from long van rides to outside team bonding events, and early mornings for horse shows, I love it all. I’m looking forward to making more great memories my last year apart of this team :)

Here's a message from Linda:

Hey! My name is Linda and I am a third year Philosophy major at the University of Oregon who is also minoring in Economics, Ethics, and Legal Studies. I have been riding since I was 12, doing the hunters, and have fell in love with horses and the sport ever since. Being able to form a partnership with the horses I learn from is one of the most beautiful forms of connection I have had the privilege of experiencing. I have been a part of the English team for the past 3 years, my favorite thing about UO Eq is being able to form relationships with both teammates and horses. It is always fun meeting new people both at UO and at other universities. I am incredibly eager for this upcoming year to be able to strengthen my relationships with my teammates and horses, while also extending my knowledge of riding and horsemanship.

Hi! My name is Grace. I'll be starting my junior year at UO with a major in Public Relations and a minor in Media Studies. I have been riding for just over three years in private lessons, originally starting with Western before comitting to English. This will be my second year on the team and my first year competing. I can't wait to experience show season with this awesome team! My favorite part of the team is the wide range of riders we have from all different backgrounds, and the bond that we all have regardless of where we came from. I'm so excited and honored to manage the team social media this year and serve as an officer!

Hi my name is Anika!
I am a Senior with a major in Marine Biology with a minor in Science Communication. I’ve been riding for over 13 years and this will be my third year on the team!
My favorite part of the team is the away shows, traveling with the team is always so much fun, despite the 8 hour van rides.
I’m most excited about our home show! It’s always so much fun and everyone is ten times closer by the end of the weekend.
