I honestly wasn’t prepared for this. When they called my name for the Trailblazer Award at the Next Level Speakers Conference, I sat there in complete shock. For a moment, I didn’t know what to do. I felt unworthy...I just. Want. To. Serve.

Then, I found myself fighting back tears because I felt seen, valued and celebrated for the journey that most people never get to see. They never get to see the early mornings, the late nights the sacrifices, disappointments, closed doors, the rejection, the moments of doubt, the victories, the lessons, the growth. More than twenty years of showing up, believing in people, pouring into young people, serving leaders, building teams and strengthening communities and trying my best to live a life of impact.

@1jeremyanderson put his arm on my shoulder and with a smile said: ‘You need to see this’. I listened to the words being shared in the video, and my mind immediately went to my wife and our boys. Because the truth is, there’s no way meaningful impact can happen alone. I owe so much to them. Every opportunity I’ve had to serve, lead, mentor and build has come with sacrifices and they have carried it with me. This award absolutely belongs to them as well.

Bowen Fam!! You have given my life purpose beyond anything I could have imagined and I am forever grateful.
I often tell others, leadership is not about the spotlight. It’s about the lives you touch when nobody is watching.

Right after Dante's name was called Friday night, he stopped.

In the middle of his own biggest moment, he made sure to honour his friend and fellow Brampton Excelsior, Niky Lowe.

Niky was a goaltender, a coach and one of the most dedicated young people in this game. He played in the Jr. Bandits program since 2020 and gave everything he had to this sport. The Buffalo Bandits, his favourite team, signed him to an honorary professional pre-draft contract while he courageously battled germ cell cancer. When Niky passed away on Sept. 10th at just 19 years old, the lacrosse community lost someone truly special. The Lowe family are truly salt-of-the-earth people.

On draft night, the Bandits selected Niky Lowe with the 67th and final pick of the 2026 NLL Entry Draft. In his honour. In his memory.

Our families go way back. Seeing Dante honour Niky in that moment…unprompted, unrehearsed…that's the moment I'll carry forever.

Rest easy, Niky. You were in that room. And you always will be.

One of the greatest lies we've been sold is that there is an "us" and a "them."

I've spent my life working with young people, leaders, educators, and communities, and I've come to believe something different.

The philosophy of Ubuntu teaches us: "I am because we are." Our humanity is interconnected. Our success is interconnected. Our healing is interconnected.

The moment we draw a line and say, "This is us," and point to someone else and say, "That's them," we all lose.

That's why I live by one simple belief:

There's no us and them, family.

There's only us.
