On 8th March last year, we lost our wonderful uncle, Basil Octigan, to primary central nervous system (CNS) lymphoma — a rare brain tumour that begins in the lymph tissue of the brain. Basil was truly the beating heart of the Octigan family and was loved beyond words by his wife, children, brothers, sisters, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends.

Basil was diagnosed in February and taken from us suddenly in March, with no real treatment options or hope available for him or his family. I cannot express enough sympathy for all families who have been affected by this disease in the way that ours has. We love him dearly and miss him every single day.

In honour of Basil’s memory, we will be running a series of fundraisers for Brain Cancer Research UK, led by my two superstar cousins, Julia and Sean — Basil’s daughter and son. Through these efforts, we hope to help fund vital research, accelerate crucial studies, and offer hope to other families by improving outcomes and futures.

I’ve shared the fundraiser links in my bio, and any support — big or small — would mean the world to us.

I also wanted to share some photos of my incredible, joyous, and witty uncle. Always with us and always loved. 🤍🧡 by @orlaoctigan
