@orphyas has an exciting fall schedule, filled with #composing #arranging #musicprep & #orchestration. Make sure to follow him! Brian Dean Morales is a composer, producer, and Cantori vocalist whose work spans concert music, ballet, film, television, and popular music. His most notable accomplishment is his reorchestration of The Color Purple, featuring Cynthia Erivo in her debut role and directed by John Doyle, which earned him his first Olivier Award nomination. His concert work includes "Strangers," a chamber ballet for woodwind quintet, percussion, and four dancers, created with choreographer Julia Bengtsson. Their collaboration continued with "Of Love," a ballet based on Morales’s violin sonata, and "House of Mercy," an ensemble work exploring the history of an asylum in Inwood. Morales writes and produces music for film and television and was a 2025 Fellow of the Los Angeles Film Conducting Intensive. He holds degrees from Manhattan School of Music and California State University, Fullerton, and studied composition and counterpoint at European American Musical Alliance in Paris. His teachers include Richard Danielpour, Philip Lasser, Pamela Madsen, Bill Cunliffe, and Lloyd Rodgers. #composer by @orphyas

I gave myself an assignment to compose a melody without the aid of a piano. Just following the rhythm and melodic shape of my mind’s ear. Then I played and made edits with a red pencil. I think’s a pretty beautiful melody (if I do say so myself). #composer #writtenmusic #melody #composition #newmusic by @orphyas
