008_FORTIFIED STRUGGLE:UNITYAs the first composition started to take shape. The media coverage became more quiet surrounding the movement. I also had more time to think and reflect on things. One of the things that popped in my head was “unity”. An almost odd saying in this “Age of the Individual” also within the black diaspora. From Kanye to Degrasse Tyson, our heroes, goals and dreams have moved through a prism of possibilities. This growth as individuals comes with an enormous price: we do less collectively in the realms of politics and community work, which in turn, had an enormous impact on our collective choices. New generations seem to be moving “past the self” in a larger scale to connect with each other on shared values and passions as other generations in the past did as well. A cyclical reminder of unity.. 008_FORTIFIED STRUGGLEI think we can all agree. 2020 is a shocking experience. In terms of events, movements, environment and political choices. The fight for equality seems to be taking centre stage at the moment. #blacklivesmatter seems to be taking the demonstrations and the emotional resilience for it, to a larger level. Seems is the word to focus on though. The almost ancient pattern of fighting for equality is getting a hold of me, for the first time in my life. An Incident. Demonstration. Demands. Talks. An Incident. Demonstrations. Demands. Minor Changes and Windowdressing...An incident..... The struggle feels circular. The struggle feels continuous. Like a loop. Trapped in gaslighted reasoning, emotional pleas and rationalisations. Fortified. As if truly changing our system would mean the end of something. A true fear of the unknown. Which we are already in. It sometimes feel like watching an infinite chess game, where both parties are not willing to make a certain move. I decided to do something with this feeling. I wanted to visualise it and create a set of stills that would carry the message and let me train my lighting and composition skills at the same time. Designers can also help out if they want. DM if you are interested.I hope the pieces spark conversation or inspiration. I truly hope the movement will be remembered not only for our passionate resilience but as the pragmatic problem solvers that the eternal struggle made from us. My name is Orville Yssel. I was born in Amsterdam. If I am not wandering and dreaming about big ideas, I create and help others to do the same. I will not follow a mental doctrine called “Racism” because I think it is the root cause of many of the world’s problems. ..I am a Black man! I build... I don’t tear down other Black men. I have felt the pain of being torn down and I have decided I will be deliberate about building others! .If I didn’t tag you don’t be offended. All to often we men find it easier to criticize each other instead of building each other up. I will tag those who I think might do this challenge but the message is for all my black people, Black women included. Because I would not even be here were it not for a BLACK WOMAN. With all the negativity going around, this is all about positivity. Upload a picture of yourself. Only you. Tag as many brothers to do the same. Let’s build ourselves up. 007_ADVANCEMENT LOOK TESTKinda reversed my workflow because I was so busy with everything as usual. Core focus was creating assets and environment first and narrative second. Really felt good to focus on the technical first and concept second as I seem to be doing that organically lately. A true growth project. by @orvilleyssel

007_ADVANCEMENT LOOK TESTBeen tooling on this one. A lot. I seem to have a knack of starting and stopping with things. The reason for this is simply that my mind goes a bit.. fast sometimes. But when an idea sticks. It’s go time. Advancement is definitely that concept for me. It challenges me and my standards. Really looking forward to showing more. So yeah that’s it! No overzealous promises, no hunting for goals except the ones needed (I gotta hit that gym, big facts) . None of that. Just the ones I promised myself and that 13 year old kid in the movie theatre. Everything else is a blessing I kindly will recieve or decline from all of you: A big shoutout to all my family and friends. Without you, I wouldn’t be where I am today. Thank you.I have 1 happy kid in a empty movie theatre with his eyes as big as diamonds in my head. And he is the only returning customer that gives me the biggest ROI I ever need. This cutie over here. This cutie was personal. I wanted to know how to make dinosaurs since I was 13 years old. Spielberg made Jurassic Park and I was hooked. I think I finalised the head 2 years ago in a train from work with a big smile on my face. But what happens always happens. And this along with many other projects just sat there. Time and the priorities made in that always seem to be out of reach. You lose contact with the things that you want to do for a number of reasons. Anycase, Cutie is coming out of the box to play around! „High Grass/Shinkawa Park” is going to be a play area for other projects sprinkled out through...I hope a very long time. :) Enjoy! 2/3 by @orvilleyssel

2019 has been a turning point for myself. A year where I seem to have gotten to know myself a bit more then usual. This is something I couldn’t have done without my family, friends and loved ones. You know who you are.So here they are: those first posts. For the big and dynamic creative industry maybe just another drop in the content pool. But for myself it’s a big deal. Even though this project is smaller and more intimate in scope, it feels more complete than ever. I want to focus on cultivating my own ideas and carry them as much as possible, to create and experiment in a way that I am learning to be comfortable with. Simple for most, hard for a few. “Beach” is project 1. A small animation on the principle of isolation and society. Release is slated for January.1/3 by @orvilleyssel
